Is it worth it to take it on the ship or is it expensive? Can you even get a signal out there? Thank u

Contact your service provider and find out what their roaming rates are in the area you'll be cruising. I cruised the Med last year and had signal a good bit of the time. I did check voicemail a couple of times but don't remember what the cost was (it didn't make me gasp when I saw my bill so it couldn't have been too bad).

If you need to contact someone or they need to reach you while you're away, it's cheaper to do it via your cell phone than the ships satellite phone system.

Yes you can get a signal from the ships antenna. might as well take it just make sure you keep it in your pocket or purse.

Why would you want to take a cell phone? I thought the idea of a cruise was to just get away from it all.

you can't get a signal when you're far out, but it you need to contact sombody you can use the phone in your room for about $5.00 a hour. When you get into a place that you can use your phone with roaming, its a 1 dollar charge for unlimited time.

Depending on your carrier you can get a signal on the ship but it is not worth using. I have at&t and they have service on most cruise lines but the rates vary per ship. When I was on my cruise the rate was $2.99 per minute, which is very pricey. I suggest either using it at port or getting a calling card to use at port. Cal your provider to see what the rates are in the various ports.

Yes, you should see the entourage that follows me when I bring my Verizon Cell. My Gosh, I thought the commercial was just joking.

Don't take it only some cells like tmobile can be 1800 miles off land. but no cells work out of the usa

u can get international servie but it is VERY EXPENCIVE so i suggest dont take it u will b charged with roaming fees if u dont get international but on the first day of your cruise u can use ure cell all day with no charges until tha ship leaves!

Here is the answer your looking for (at least if your sailing with carnival). They have their own cell phone tower on the boat that is in use whenever your not at port. you will get excellent signal strength throughout most of the ship. you may lose it if your in an interior room though. The cost for me with cingular (or at&t) was $2.70 a minute for calls and .25cents for all texts (incoming and outgoing)
