Depends on what your interests are. My personal preference is Mexico. I love the Mayan Ruins and I find the history fascinating. But many people really enjoy the Atlantis Resort. My thinking is though, if I'm going out of the country, I want to do something that I don't have access to at home. There are fancy resorts all over the world, so Atlantis is really cool, but there isn't anything there that I can't do at home. Mayan Ruins are only in Mexico & northern Latin America. They are unique. Plus I love Key West.
But it really is personal preference. If you aren't a history or architecture buff - Bahamas might be a better choice for you. |

My family did both. Bahamas was beautiful!, and Mexico was fun. In the Bahamas we were only in Nassau for 1 day, I did not get to the Atlantis but I understand it was unbelievable. In Cozumel we were in two different ports because a storm came thru a couple weeks before and different port we were going to got canceled. We did a catamaran tour which was too much fun, (great group), and visited the town, shopping & beach in the other port. Again, both are breathtaking, the cruises are relaxing & safe, you can do anything on any of the islands. As to the Mayan ruins, I think we went to a port that was quite new, I know it was destroyed in a storm a year or so ago, but not sure if rebuilt, Checyn... something was the name of the ruins, that was fun & informative too., in that port my husband and boys rented atvs and still have fun stories to tell (almost missed the boat). Many happy years to you. |

Mexico is so interesting to see all the ruins. More for the adventurous people, and those looking for what other cultures are like. The Mexican culture is beautiful, but i have never been to the bahamas. |

can't answer the Mexico part but my family and I just went on a cruise in March on the Norwegian Gem. We stopped at Atlantis for the day and it was absolutely amazing. We paid the money and rented a room at the Comfort suites across the street so we could use the whole facility at Atlantis. It was more than worth it. My husband and 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter loved it too. As newlyweds I think this is also very romantic and islandy, (is that a word?!) Hope this helps. |

i heard atlantis is sweet. but more for kids with the water parks and water slides. not sure what paradise island is, but sounds nice. key west is cool, cozumel is amazing and the pyramid ruins is something you will want to see. up to you. i would want to go to atlantis, but i am younger. good luck. |
