It may cost a little more, but if you have teens, get them an inside room and you and your husband get the room across the hall from them in a veranda. This will give you privacy and them access to the ocean air except when they are sleeping. Most people on cruises don't spend much time in their cabins.
Get the cruise line to quote you rates both ways.

YES!! It will cost you about four (4) times what you need to pay if you book two cabins for two people. All cruise lines charge by the cabin with the basic rate being based on double occupancy (at least two people). If you book a cabin by yourself the cruise line will charge you what they call a single supplement; which is essentially a double occupancy fare.
All of the cruise lines charge for all of the people in your party, regardless of age, even infants. However, the price of your cabin will be based on double occupancy for the first two people and any additional people in the cabin, regardless of age, will pay a much lower price that is usually in the range of about 50 percent of the fare for the first two people. On occasion the cruise lines will run a special when they charge a much lower rate for the 3rd, 4th and 5th persons in your cabin; sometimes as low as $100 each. But the normal is about 50 percent.
All cabins are made to hold at least two people and many will hold 3 or 4 people comfortably, depending on the ship and cabin. Not all cabins on cruise ships are the same size.
The price you pay will depend also on the type cabin/accommodations that you choose.
There are 4 basic types of cabins on ships;
- inside (no window),................................... least expensive
- outside (a window or porthole),
- balcony/veranda, and
- suites and penthouses.......................... most expensive.
The "FROM" prices you see will always be for an inside cabin. There are also some subcategories within each category with cabins on a higher deck, and/or a better location on ship (like midship), and/or that are slightly larger costing more |
