There are alot of cruises that go to Hawaii. Holland America goes to Hawaii and leaves out of San Diego. Royal Caribbean goes to Hawaii too. When I was looking for Cruises, i went to Cruise.com, just to get an idea of the prices, then i got a travel agent and booked it through them. Find a travel agent that doesn't charge you a booking fee. Not all of them do.

EDIT Cruises that go to hawaii are mostly durring the winter months, durring the summer they go to Alaska.

I just cam back from a 14 day Hawaiian cruise with Princess cruises. It left LA on October 29 and came back on November 12th. It was a wonderful cruise with lots of activities on the ship, many were Hawaiian related. They also had a late night luau on the ship, Hawaiian food and lectures all about Hawaii. This was so much fun and relaxing that I have to say it was one of my favorite cruises. Oh, It was on the Golden Princess.

Go to VacationsToGo.com - it's easy to search for cruises there, whether or not you use them to book.

You'll have two choices, basically: flying to Hawaii and then cruising around the islands or cruising from the west coast. The latter will involve a longer cruise and have many sea days, but you'll have better choices for quality cruise lines. The only line doing cruises originating and ending in Hawaii is Norwegian, with the "American" ship. Service, food etc on that ship is not highly rated. It is staffed by Americans, who, when it comes to cruising, evidently don't know the meaning of "service".

You can get lots of info about all aspects of cruising at CruiseCritic.com. Click on "Boards" or "Reviews" [especially look at "Member Reviews"] or "Cruise Styles" at the top of the page.

Good luck finding just the right cruise for your family.

Been on the NCL "round the 5 main islands" cruise! You will enjoy it but organise your own shore excursions as the ship organised ones are expensive and poor quality. Before we went we hired a car at each port of call and had great time exploring on our own.

The only regularly scheduled cruise that I know of is Princess. It is a two week cruise from LA to Hawaii and back. I will be on it on Jan 7. Most other Hawaii cruises are from Canada or Mexico and are only a few times a year.

Norwegian cruise lines has regular cruises only around the islands. It does not travel to the mainland.
