There are several functions, devided between CREW and STAFF. Crew are bartenders, waithers, cabin crew, etc.
Staff are Recetionists, gift shop personell, shore ex, photo, Spa and some others
Staff´s status and acomodations onboard is a lot better
To work on the gift shops, the best way is trhu one of two major concessions.
www.hardingbros.co.uk
or http://www.starboardcruise.com/
Hardings is British, Starboard amercian.
Hardings has a better work environment, better salaries, and bigger discount. Also its easier to enter.
Go to the site, send your CV, they´ll contact you if they want further info and will set up a phone interview.
Its very easy.
Remember, the advantage of working for the shops is:
While in port, shops dont open, so you dont work.
If you have an overnight, no work.
You work a bit hard on Sea days.
To work on reception you should contact the cruise lines directly. Shore ex as well.
Photo/Salon/Casino and the shops are all concessions (in most cases).
You will need a basic sea survival course and a proper medical, but they´ll inform all that.
Also, working for a concession you have the advantage of working for several diferente cruise lines, so you change a lot, go all over.
Not stuck doing one single destination.
If i can be of any help contact me
