Cruise cost and pricing?
I understand that cruise costs are per person. Let's say that me and my spouse are going to take a cruise and we book a suite for 1000. Why would i pay 2000 for both of us instead of paying 1000 for one of us and then the cheapest room for the other room but not use it. I would be able to save about 500 by doing this. What are your thoughts?
Good idea, and I'm sure that you are not the first person to think of it. Unfortunately the cruise price is for one person. based on two people, in a cabin or suite.
The premium for one person booking a cabin is usually a minimum of 100% and I have seen it as high as 120%.
Booking two single cruises will be much more expensive than just booking two people into one cabin or suite.

The prices are based on having at least 2 people in a room. You would pay a lot more by each booking something separate like that.

The rates are per person, but the cabins are based upon double occupancy, so if only one person is going to be in the cabin, there is a single supplement which is often 100%. You cannot book a suite or any other cabin and just pay for one person at the 2 person rate.So if you book 1 suite at 1000 per person and a cheap cabin for 500, you are going to have to pay 2000 for the suite and 1000 for the other cabin, because you have to pay for 2 people in each cabin so you will be paying 3000, or an extra 1000.
