The biggest danger is what goes on your credit card accounr the last day. All of your shipboard purchasing is charged. It is real easy to get carried away.

I HAVE HAD PEOPLE JUMP OFF BECUASE THEY WERE REALLY DRUNK
so just don't drink to much you'll be fine

Some possibilities:

Stomach upsets
Sunburn
Alcohol poisoning
STD's
Buying hundreds of dollars of fake gold chains in St Martin
Getting mugged in St Thomas
Running into the sea and stepping barefoot onto a reef full of sea urchins
Getting your radio stolen
Making a fool of yourself on stage in a 'passenger talent night' contest

You do not need to worry about any of the above, you will have a great time.

We've been on 8. Seven of them with Carnival and 1 with Royal Carribean. Never had any problems at all. We plan on going back. The staff and guests are spectacular. You will actually see people from all over the world can enjoy life peacefully. Go and have fun.

Well, sure there are... but there are dangers with anything really. A couple years back I believe a Disney cruise had a virus run through it and had to be cleaned very throughly because most of the people got sick. But there hasn't been too many things I have heard lately. You shouldn't have a problem if it is a trustworthy company though. Anyway Good Luck!

No different than staying at a hotel or walking dosen't the street. You need to be aware of yourself and your surroundings. Don't take or make stupid choices just because you are vacation. If it seems like you shouldn't do it then don't. I have been on 6, soon to be 7 cruises in the last 2 years and love them but I do realize that I'm the most important part in keeping me and my kids or friends safe. Have fun

biggest worry on ship is the possibility of robbery. make a photo copy of all important doccuments and lock bags and dont leave anything out

cruise where?

if its just something where your probably gonna be on the boat the whole time, have fun and dont worry...

if your going to go somewhere and get off the boat, in a warm climate...with warm waters....you have to be carefull

there are nasty parasites in warm water...you might already know this, depending on where you live....i live in alaska, so when i go to a tropical place, i am in danger of many more parasite things than people who already live in warm climates..BUT parasites are nasty..example: 14 year old boy was swimming (in USA) , somewhere in the south. water got up his nose...there was some sort of parasite in the water, it ate all the way to his brain and he died..no cure...

before you go someplace, research the types of bugs, diseases, parasites, etc...also the food...just be carefull...ive had my share of tropical sickness , etc...

Lynn
I've been on two and had a blast. Not a single problem.

OK, consider this. All, passengers are screened before they board the ship and most cruise lines now require all passengers to complete their person registration information weeks in advance either on line or by mail. This information is used to do security checks and then its verified when passengers check in at the port. Crew members are also screened before hired. All passengers boarding the ships are photographed and the ships know exactly who gets off at each port and screen who gets back on and their packages. No one gets on ship who does not belong and have positive ID. I have seen the security personnel require crew members to show ID before the get back on ship.

Aside form the infrequent accident when someone trips or falls on ship (which could happen anywhere) there are rarely accidents on ship and people who get hurt are usually doing something stupid like sitting on a railing and falling overboard. The cruise lines will tell you that most of the people who come up missing are people who commit suicide (or drunks falling over). There are also reports of occasional fights but its usually due to someone being drunk.

The biggest danger on cruises, based on the many that I have done, is getting sick from the Norwalk virus. Cruise ships are already taking steps to minimize this by having hand sanitizers available at all eating places, and requiring people to use them. Some ships even require passengers to use the sanitizers before they board the ship on departure and at port stops. You can help minimize your chance of getting sick by using these and also by carry your own personal travel size bottle of sanitizer (cost about $1.00) and using it regularly on ship.

I have been on about 20 cruises on four different cruise lines and I have never seen anyone injured on ship. On the other hand I have seen passengers come back on ship with cut hands and feet from scuba or snorkel diving; or a sprained ankle from some activity on shore. But that's different from the cruise causing an injury.

There's a bunch, but these will NOT necessarily happen to you!

Respect Your Mother (Earth)!
If your going on excursions swim with a buddy (reduces the risk of shark attack) also don't go to the bathroom in the ocean (sharks are attracted to human body fluids.)

I've been on three and all three have been AWESOME! The food was soo good. Don't worry about dangers. Cruise liners are VERY safe and most of the time, you can't even feel the boat move. You might get seasickness after a few days, but there are pills for that.

No need to worry. have a good trip

You're Out!
It depends on the size of boat and where you're going. I'm going on a cruise Sunday to the Caribbeans on the second largest boat in the world. The only time you should have problems is if you're on a small boat in iceberg invested waters :-)

I have been on 20 cruises and have never seen any serious trouble on any cruise apart from over enthusiastic partying. However the link below describes all types of incident on cruise ships
http://cruisebruise.com/
It makes interesting reading.

A cruise can be a luxurious, safe, and fun form of travel. What exactly are you asking us? If you dive off the top deck of a cruise ship while its steaming at 20 knots, you may not survive. You may overeat and develop a health problem. Someone else on the ship may have just come from central Africa and carry the Ebola virus. The risks of cruising are small, but any travel involves risk. So does walking across the street.

Dart Swinger
Don't take NCL. They are very lax on passenger safety.

Wash your hands often. Don't get drunk and fall overboard.

Sox=2005 champs Cubs=hmm when?

people cab gone missing and they never find the bodies. But I don't think this happens alot.

zoe_yay
of course there are some. of course the ship could hit a rock and go under. it could have a difficulty or something and sink. there could be terrorists? but seriously, you have to remind yourself, what are the chances of this actually happening? about 0.0001%. they make sure everything runs smoothly and that you all have a great time. :)
