Cruise for the younger crowd? 21-30? |
My friends and I were thinking about taking the 4 day mexico cruise. But I heard mixed reviews about it. Some say its just a bunch of old people. Does anyone reccomend a cruise line for the younger crowd? More of a party boat? |

Carnival does seem like a good cruise line for the younger crowd, but there are some rule of thumbs to use if you're looking for a cruise with a younger crowd.
1) The shorter the cruise, the younger the average age of the people on it. Younger people work, and don't have as much vacation time as older people.
2) Destination: Some destinations are a lot more desirable to younger or older people. Your cruise through the icy waters of the pacific northwest are going to have older people than your Caribbean cruise. Also, younger people generally aren't as interested in historical sites, so don't plan on seeing lots of young people if your ports of call are Ephesus Turkey, Delos Greece, Athens Greece, etc...
3) Price: Generally, the less expensive the cruise, the younger the guests. Old people have more money thanks to that compounding interest thing.
The average age of people who take cruises is pretty high in general. You're just not going to find a cruise with an average age of 28. For your particular situation, a 4 day cruise is pretty short, and Mexico is a destination that younger people would prefer. Your cruise should have a fairly young crowd. Don't expect it to have all young people, but there will be plenty of other people your age. |

CARNIVAL! They call it 'the fun ship' for a reason. No matter what ship you go on you will have the best time at that age. Trust me. I've been on 11.
You DO want to look into how old the ship is. And preferably that it is over 80 tons. Most are like 110 tons. Which means the ship is hugeeeeeeeee and has a lot to do! |

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only

Carnival is known as the party boat, but you will also have a great time on Norwegian, or Royal Caribbean.
The cruise line that has the really old folks in Holland America. All of the others pretty much have a mixture of people, especially on cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The summer season will also have the younger crowds and the older folks tend to cruise in off-seasons |

The 3-4 day Carnival Cruises to Baja Mexico definately have a younger crowd. This cruise is also a great 1st time cruise because it gives you a feel for what cruising is like. The 3 day cruises going to Ensenada leave on Friday from Long Beach and Return Monday morning. The 4 day cruises going to Catalina and Ensenada leave from Long Beach on Monday and Return on Friday morning.
New this year, Carnival is now doing 5 day cruises that leave from San Diego and go to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. My husband and I just booked a 5 day cruise towards the end of September and we paid only $319 a person, about 10 bucks less a person that what we paid for our 3 day cruise 2 years ago!! |

i definitely say carnival cruises! 100%
its one of the very few cruise that had a disco that wasnt extremely lame!
its open from 11 till 3 for 18 and older with guards at the door to keep young ones out and lots of drinking with amazing comedians almost Every night with an adult only show.
so i highly suggest any carnival ship!
a lot of groups of college kids! |
