Depends upon the type of cruise it is. They seem to be getting more relaxed. Though in most cases people do dress up for dinner. To be sure you should look up the cruise/ship to see how they describe dinner & evening wear.

I have never been on a cruise ship, but that's all my best friends family goes on. I believe they sail on Royal Caribbean, I am not sure. And she tells me all the time that you have to dress formal. U can't wear shorts or T-Shirts. So u probably have to wear dresses and stuff like that. |

It really is up to you.
You won't find anyone more casual than me, but , I love putting on a suit and tie for dinner when cruising |

Absolutely, that is one of the points of formal nights. I have been on cruises where men are wearing full out Tux's and some women are wearing gowns. Obviously it depends on the ship as well, if it is a 4+ star Ship, expect to see some well dressed folks. To be honest, it makes me rather upset to see some people wearing jeans on Formal night, that what the buffets are for. It is only about 5% who are wearing th Tux's and gowns, the rest are in nice dresses and suits, some ment wear a sport coat and slacks, and they fit right in. |
