I love the Windstar cruises...small ships (150-300 passengers) the ships are small enough that they can go into ports that the bigger ships can't, no huge crowds! wonderful service, incredible food and you don't have to dress up!
You feel as if you're on your own personal ship...(and they have beautiful white sails!) |

Seabourn. I'm about to get on my third cruise with them. I am a solo lady traveler in her 50's and I feel completely at home on Sebourn. First of all, their ships are small...only about 200 passengers....and I never feel lost in a crowd or overwhelmed by families and children. The passengers are usually my age or older, some younger, but it's a quiet, elegant group who have traveled the world and I love listening to all their stories of where they've been.
The service on Seabourn is also incredible. The food is wonderful and the ships are all inclusive; all drinks, all tips are included, and that includes your cocktails (not that I drink very much).
Seabourn has huge cabins with equally huge windows onto the sea; all outside cabins. And if you travel single, you are invited to a hosted table every night for dinner. Since they are expensive, I have only traveled the Caribbean...that is where the cheapest single rates are found. |

I like Carnival. The value is incredible. The service is very good. I have not had a bad cruise with them yet. I got a seven day cruise on the Carnival Glory last September for $339. Took four people for under $1400 + gratuities. |

We've only used two:
Royal Caribbean is my choice for myself 39 and husband 37. I think the color schemes and decor is more subtle. the midnight buffet is much better than Carnival. And it's more couples.
Carnival is great for those with kids and those who want to party. The decor is loud and in your face often. Lot's of activities for kids and a special age appropriate kids camp.
We love them both. |

I have been on 4 cruise lines; Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. I have been on NCL and RC the most but my favorite line is now Royal Caribbean. I think they have ships with great features and a variety of activities for families. I like that fact that they have the adults only area in the Solarium (a covered pool/hot tub area) and the favorite feature of my favorite ships is an open terrace for eating on the back of the ship. My favorite of their ships is actually the Radiance class which has 4 ships. I have been on two of them, the Brilliance and the Jewel of the Seas and will be going on another, the Radiance of the Seas, next year.
I like the decor on Princess ships and Celebrity ships but I think RC is just as good. RC has just upgraded all of their ship's cabins with new bedding, kinda like pillow top beds, and the new ships have flat panel HD TV's. I love the traditional dining on RC ships, vs the freestyle on NCL and the Personal choice on Princess. On Princess I found or remember that the dinner meals were more a presentation of something than a tasty satisfying meal. For example the dinner with lamb shops would have a redskin potato, a grilled cherry tomato and a dollop of something else colorful. It was very pretty on the plate but not really what I want, a serving size of each thing. They have good looking meals for dinner on RC but they are more tasty. In addition, on RC they have a standing alternative dinner menu that is available every day and has your choice of grilled chicken, baked salmon, steak, or a pasta, and choice of a Caesar salad in lieu of the others on the menu.
For ports I like Ft Lauderdale, Miami and San Diego. Miami has good parking and the other two are really close to the airport.
Although RC is my favorite I will go on Celebrity and Princess whenever I find a good itinerary, date and price. I go on NCL if I cannot find the itinerary anywhere else. Three out of my next 4 cruises are already booked on RC, one on NCL just because its a new ship and an itinerary I cannot get anywhere else.
Oh, and being a Diamond level member of the RC cruise club always gets us a big discount on cruises with them, better than I can get with the other lines since I have not been on them as much. |

We cruised with children ages 4,6 on Disney. With kids there is simply no comparison. The port at Canaveral is easy to do. We flew into Orlando spent the night at Coca Beach on were on the ship by noon. The kids are treated very special. Parents can really enjoy themselves as well. The kids were happy as could be so they can hang out in the Oceaneer Club while Mom and Dad have some time alone. The magic is the ship we were on it was beautiful. |

I have been on over 25 cruises and Celebrity is my choice for the best cruise for the money. All of the ships in the fleet are very good with my favorite being the Century, it just had a major renovation. I feel that the food and service is better than some of the other lines like RC, Princess, Holland America. If you are looking for more of a party boat I would choose RC or Carnival.
My favorite port is Barcelona, which is a great start or ending to a Med. cruise |
