Cruises: Princess or Carnival?

I'd say for your age Carnival. Carnival has way more people in their teens and way more teen activities. Princess is more upscale true--but I can't imagine at 16 I would have been able to tell the difference. A steak was a steak and was better than what I normally ate.

Princess tends to be more people in their 30s, a lot of honeymooners, it's more romantic, and more expensive. In general, it's out of my price range.

I love Carnival though. It's a party boat with lots of activities if you want to be a goofball but also lots of scheduled time with others in your age range.

Look up islands and try to figure out which ones you might want to go to.

FUN!

I've traveled on both of these cruise lines and I have quite enjoyed them! I will have to say Princess has better food and a better selection of a buffet. Although, Carnival has a better variety of activities to do but it depends where your traveling. Be sure to book excursions (off site tours on the different places you stop) which will make your time more enjoyable.

In all I would recommend Princess 7.5/10
Carnival 8/10

At your age, I really think you would have the best time on Royal Caribbean, especially one of the Freedom class ships which include Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas. They have the rock climbing walls, flow rider (surfing on the ship), ice skating and many other activities at no extra charge. They usually cost a little more than carnival but less than princess and have excellent food with lots of choices. They have a special program for teens your age that includes disco, pizza party and so on. I have been on over 30 cruises on 8 different cruise lines and think you and your family will all be happy with Royal.

I would have to say Princess also. Since you are obviously going with someone older then you, then Princess is the way to go. Not only is the food better, but it is more upscale all around. Those that are going with you want to have as much fun as your going to have. Carnival is better suited for the party crowd, but not all with you would be happy about that. Princess has so much stuff for kids your age, plus great things for your parents, plus great food, and really nice cabins too. Oh btw, happy birthday. 16 is a real important birthday.

Disney cruses because they are so much fun and have a deck party every night!!

Princess has a wider varity of food at breakfast, but they charge extra for juices, hot chocolate, latte, cappachino, and ice cream. Carnival also does the macarena, and The Ketchup Song in the dining room, Princess, we felt, is more for the older crowd. No cruise line is bad, however.
