hmmm,
Doing whatever you want when you want to do it - YES.
Eating what/when/where you want YES!
Taking excursions you really want to take without worrying about others - YES!
Taking a nap whenever you feel like it - YES!
Sleeping late or getting up at the break of dawn YES!
September will be my 9th solo cruise :D! I visit message boards beforehand and meet people who will be on my cruise and we make it a point to meet. cruisecritic.com is my board of choice. If you go to "Roll Call" and look for your ship/date you should find some people.
I've also gone on a few 'singles cruises' - they're a blast. I needed a vacation after the cruise cuz it's a party non-stop.
It probably has more to do with how happy/content are you by yourself. If you enjoy your solitude and the other things I mentioned above, you'll LOVE it!
Have Fun! |

First of all you should know that all cruise lines sell all of their cabins "double occupancy". If you want to go alone you would have to pay the "single supplement" which is usually about double the fare. If you are going to do this I would suggest that you get the cheapest inside cabin on the least expensive cruise that you can find. Otherwise you will pay a lot for the cruise. OR, take a buddy or family member and pay all or a part of their fare.
I have been on more than a dozen cruises with NCL, RC, Princess and Celebrity and they have all had get togethers for singles. So the chances of you meeting some nice peole is good. In addition on all of these, except NCL which has "freestyle cruising", you will be assigned to a dinner table with 8 or 9 other people and you will find some friends at dinner , as well as in the bars and discos.
Cruises are my favorite vacation activity and I do a couple every year. You will not be bored, regardless of what ship you go on. |

I have been on over 20 cruises and 1 of them was by myself. It was by far the best largely because of the reasons already listed by Nancy P. It sounds like this may be your first cruise or you would know you won't be bored. The type of people that cruise are usually among the most friendly. Go on a ship that has traditional seating (most do) and you will quickly get to know the people at your table and will see them throughout the day at various activities. It is also likely that they will seat someone else who is traveling alone at the same table as tables have even numbers of guests.
Do go to a site like Cruise Critic and look for the ship that you will be on and you will find people who are going on that same sailing that you can sort of get to know before you go. Usually everyone on those boards plans a get together the 1st sea day so you can all meet in person. They will also be looking for people to join them on tours.
Check it out! It will be great!

I would absoultely take a cruise alone. Personally I like being alone, but you never know, you could meet a few people while on the cruise. |

Cruising by yourself is usually twice the cost. The cabins are booked for 2 people and the price is for double occupancy. Most ships charge close to twice the price for a single person.
Also, you just may feel like an extra at the dinner table or at social events.
Get a friend to go with you. |

I think its a good idea. You can make friends at lunch/ dinner or on the excursions. Its an excellent way to relax, have a great vacation and meet people if you want to. |

I think it would be fun. ^_^
You could take it as an opportunity to (force yourself to) meet new people so that you won't be bored. It would be really relaxing to have some time to yourself, also. |

I went on a cruise by myself, and had an absolute blast. As stated earlier, you can do whatever, whenever, without having to compromise. Also, there is a single guest surcharge. This can range anywhere from 50% increase to double the fair. When I was searching for a 3 day solo cruise, I found the cheaper solo fair was through Royal Carribbean. I think they charged me about 65% higher than a regular fee based on two people. |

If you are OK cruising alone, I don't see why not. This will be a great way for you to meet new poeple, since you can dine with people at your table and get to talk to them and meet new friends. Sometimes traveling alone is better because you get to do what YOU want to do instead of trying to please a group. Activities on the ship often include shows and you can easily enjoy them by yourself. |
