Yes it normally at noon, there will be a terminal that you can wait in.......and you will be allowed back off again after to go and see San Juan, which really is beautiful, just make sure you are back on board ALWAYS, IN plenty of time of Sailing.

Enjoy

Each cruise line and ship is different, so the best thing to do is contact the cruise line and ask when you can start boarding. Some ships have early boarding available for passengers in suites, have sailed with the line before, etc.

If the ship is departing at 10:00 p.m., mass boarding will probably start around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. The more passengers a ship carries the later the start of the actual boarding, because the cabins must all be cleaned and made up before the passengers are allowed on board.

If possible, I would suggest you try to arrive in San Juan the day prior to your sailing and overnight in San Juan. Its never really a good idea to fly into the embarkation port on the day of the sailing because if you have flight delays due to weather or mechanical problems, you risk missing your sailing.

I did a S. Caribbean sailing from San Juan a few years ago and the ship was to sail at 10:00 p.m. A group of passengers from Denver had a delayed take off due to thunderstorms in Denver. Even though the cruise line waited an additional 2 hours before sailing, the group from Denver missed the sailing. I've never forgotten that and always recommend my clients fly into the embarkation port the day prior to sailing.
Think of this day as a day to recover from the flight, tour the embarkation city, and as an early start to your vacation.

Bon Voyage!

Please don't wait 2 hours prior to departure time, the ship may not be there by then. On most cruise ships you can start boarding at noon. Most ships dock early and only need a few hours in between the prior disembarkation and embarkation. Also its best to board early, because the ship doesn't necessarily have to wait to departure time to leave, they do leave early. Once you check in they will usually allow you the chance to get off the ship and sight see, just make sure you get back on time. They usually have a cut off time of 1-2 hours prior to departure where they will not let you check in after that time. If you miss the check in time then it's up to you to try and get the ship at the next port.

Hi!!! I did my research and From what I heard you cam aboard the ship as early as 2 hours before. I hope this helps!!! Happy Sailing!!!
