Did you enjoy your cruise? How were the shows?

Hi All!

Just wondering what the shows were like and did you enjoy them? My hubby and I are in the beginning stages of starting to plan a cruise and we really enjoy comedy. My husband and I are somewhat conservative on what we like to listen too. Is the comedy appropriate? We are really looking forward to this. Thanks!

I have been on 2 cruises and have another one planned, all on Carnival

we both also have a conservative views on shows, fortunately the cruise line tries to have something for everyone. We also use this as a family vacation so we want what we see to be for our children too (11 &13)

the one we saw was a 50's music dancing show it was well done and they stayed tolerantly dressed, better than the pool anyway. their was a vegas style show we choes not to see because it was well stated that it would have g-strings and other such dress. there was also other adult only shows we did not see and they were late (after midnight) so we did not miss any thing.
there where lots of other activities during the day and even if you don't want to paticapate go and watch that has potenchal to be the funniest shows yet, they were on ours!!

and the best advice we got before our first cruise was eat in the dinning room the food and servis is soooo much better!!!!

I have been on many cruises with several cruise lines and I have found that most shows are nice, something to do, but not fantastic like a new York Broadway, or even off-Broadway show, and not like the shows in Vegas. They usually have singers and dancers in costumes that are colorful and they do have stage and lighting effects. But after the first show you have pretty much seen the dancing they will do. The next show will have different costumes but not much substance.

Cruise lines do not always have a comedy show, or they may have a comedian one or two nights of a 7 day cruise. We have found that most are just OK, but not top of the line people. You'll get a few laughs but you will not have side splitters.

They usually give you a heads up on any "blue" comedy.

The dancers costumes are equal to those in Vegas. Lots of butt cheeks and several wardrobe "malfunctions" that my kids thought were hilarious.

There is a good mix of shows: musical, comedy, magic, dance.

I have been on 20 cruises, and enjoyed them all. You will probably love everything if this will be your first cruise. The shows are mostly just something to do in the evening. The most outstanding show I have seen was on a Celebrity cruise where they had "A Taste of Cirque du Soleil©." That really knocked my socks off to see it on a small stage.

Some of the Royal Caribbean ships have an ice rink, and will have ice shows which are excellent.

As others have said already, the cruise ship singers and dancers are OK...You've seen one, you've seen them all.

The best comedy acts I found were the ones that combined some other talent, like magic or juggling. The stand-up comedians were not big-name people. If you've heard their names before, then they are has-beens. Most of the humor is predictable cruise-ship humor...eating all day, how the toilets flush, the size of the cabins, and even the Cruise Director has his segment with the same kind of jokes.

The late-night comedy shows tend to be more X-rated.

I loved my cruises. The shows were good, but I did not care for the comedy. It was lame. If you evere have a chance to see the Amazing Fire Gauchos, you must. They were the best show on my cruise.

The shows are "rated", and they let you know when there may be something less than appropriate. And, you can always leave the theater if you get offended.

I have been on 4 cruises. Three aboard the Disney Magic (my husband and I do not have kids) and 1 aboard the Royal Carribbean Explorer of the Seas. Needless to say, I will not sail again on Royal Carribbean.

The Disney ship is wonderful and the cruise staff is incredible. My waiter from my honeymoon cruise in 2002 remembered us when we saw him aboard in 2004 and 2006! The entertainment is broadway quality and wonderful. The do have some "adult only" shows later at night and do have babysitting and daycare services (friends of ours took advantage of this and were very satisfied). They have a teens only nightclub and a fabulous arcade.

Alot of people ask about being bothered by the large amount of kids on board, however, we were more bothered by kids on the RCL ship that Disney because RCL does not have 1/4 of the activities for kids. Disney also has some adults only sections where you can go to simply get away.

The other thing that pissed me off about RCL was that when I wore a Disney Cruise line shirt aboard the RCL cruise, a crew member came up to me and spoke very negatively about the Disney Cruise - SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

Disney is slightly more expensive but worth every last penny! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Well I have been on about 15 cruises and I also go to Vegas about 2 times a year.

I can tell you the cruise shows are not even close to a Vegas style show. Vegas has them beat on so many levels it's not funny. From being able to choose your seats to the quality of the shows.

On a cruise your forced to run to the show an hour or 2 before it starts if you plan on getting good seats. The seats are bad on many cruise lines. Many cruise lines have just a few bar maids serving drinks so you may get one before the show ends if your lucky.

With that said. If you have never been to Vegas you will love the shows. I know most people do. I also know the ones who do more than likely never went to top billing show in Vegas like Cirque du Soleil.

Have fun.
