Disney Cruise Pricing?

I am thinking about going on the disney cruise this summer but i have a question about the prices. My friend and I are going to go together and we are going to share a stateroom. Besides reserving the stateroom is there any additional cost per person? if there is how do you think we should split the cost?

All the extra costs to cruising are answered comprehensively above. Splitting the cost should be easy enough, you each get an combined cabin key / boarding pass / charge card when you join the cruise.
As there is no money used on-board, all you need to do is set up separate accounts for each cabin member then what you each spend on-board will be charged to your own account which you pay at the end of the cruise.
Alternatively, you could set up one account and split the cost 50/50 at the end of the cruise.

You can do easy comparison shopping for cruises at www.vacationstogo.com

The prices you see on the web are per person for double occupany. So, if the quote is for $800, each of the two guests pay $800 = $1,600 total.

However, the teaser rates on the web are usually for the lowest cabin and does not include port fees and taxes which can add $75+ to each person's fee. Make sure your travel agent includes these fees in any quote they give you.

Other expenses:
1. Tips. Usually $10 per day per guest. $70 for a 7-day cruise.
2. Sodas. $1.75 per can or a soda card for about $40.
3. Bar drinks. $4-12 each plus 15% gratuity
4. Shore excursion. $50-200 each.
5. Taxis on shore. $5-10
6. Casino, raffle tickets, bingo $$$
7. Spa services. $50-200 per service.
8. Photos. $20+ each
9. Parking at port or shuttle/taxi from airport to port

Notable...stay up to date on the changing passport requirements for 2008 sea travel. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

Each person will get a card in which to charge incidental expenses. After splitting the cost of the room, each person will be presented an individual bill for his/her purchases while on-board.

All of this info is really good so far. A few notes...on Disney, you don't pay for soft drinks. Coffee, tea, soda, milk, water and anything else with no booze is free. You do pay for shore excursions, alcohol and anything you buy on the boat or on shore.

$10 a day for tips is extremely low. They would like you to tip the cabin steward, the waiter and drinks guy (they travel with you from dining room to dining room and serve you every night), and the headwaiter (I didn't really understand this one).

It adds up to a lot, if you can do it. Lots of people don't follow their recommended tip level, which is very high.

Disney was a great cruise. We loved it and are looking forward to doing it again.

You will be expected to tip the wait staff and the room steward. Here is what Disney recommend for tips ...

What about gratuities?

It is customary to give gratuities in recognition of service, which you will most likely be treated to in abundance aboard the ship. As a guideline, may we suggest the following:

Per Guest per cruise 3-Night 4-Night 7-Night
Dining Room Server $11.00 $14.75 $25.75
Dining Room Asst. Server $8.00 $10.75 $18.75
Dining Room Head Server $2.75 $3.75 $6.50
Stateroom Host/Hostess $10.75 $14.50 $25.25
Dining Manager Your Discretion
Room Service Your Discretion
Palo Gratuity included
Vista Spa & Salon Your Discretion
Babysitting Gratuity not expected
Shore Excursions Optional; not included in shore excursion price.
For your convenience, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine and deck service tabs. All gratuities can be charged to your room charge.

At the Walt Disney World® Resort, 15% is the customary gratuity at restaurants and bars.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/help/overview?name=OnboardServicesFAQLandingPage#9

This works out to $32.50 for a three night cruise, $43.75 for a four night cruise and $76.25 for a one week cruise. Each of these works out to just under $11 per person per night.

Everything else that cost money is optional. This includes any photographs you buy, any souvenirs you buy, any shore excursions you go on or any spa treatments you purchase.

Don't forget to add in to your cost:

1. Gratuities
2. Bar Tab
3. Onboard shopping
4. Spa treatments
5. Speciality Dining
6. Shore Excursions

That stuff can nip you the butt!

Pricing is per person when you book the cruise. It's generally based on two people per stateroom.
