Disney Cruise Question? |
Hi all,
I've just book a trip to the Bahamas for 4 nights and got till the 17th to cancel it. The trip is for me, my girlfriend, and my daughter inside the Disney Wonder. The estimated cost for the trip alone is a little bit under $4K.
I was thinking, since we won't depart until Sept. 2007, should I cancel the trip I booked and wait till August 2007 to rebook it? I'm assuming that if all the rooms doesn't get filled then they'll lower the rates and I'll be able to book a cheaper trip.
What do you guys think? Additional Details Also, I'm willing to spend $3000 max for the trip, that's excluding the alcohol, tips, and shopping. |

You might luck out doing this, but the minute you cancel the cabin you had reserved is available for booking. It is very possible that the cabin you have now could be booked by somebody else right after you cancel.
Booking now guarantees your cabin and category that you want. If you cancel your reservation and try closer to departure you run a very high risk of not being able to get a cabin the category you want.
Not only that but Disney typically sails at better than 90% capacity, this means that last minute deals are difficult to come by on Disney and prices on new bookings may actually go UP as you get closer to the departure date. If you cancel and rebook later you could end up paying more for your cruise.
I would strongly discourage you from trying this. Work with a travel agent and watch the various cruise vacation sites and see if a better deal is offered as it gets closer to sail date, then have your travel agent work with DCL to match the deal. |

Disney isn't known for lowering their prices. I think that if you are going in Sept you are probably in a low price range. If the price goes down they normally will honor it (at least other cruiselines do) but if you cancel and rebook last minute on Disney you may not be able to rebook at all. |

You don't say what type of cabin you have reserved but your price seems awfully high for a 4 night Disney cruise unless you are in a deluxe room with balcony.
Did you book directly with the Cruise line? Maybe you should shop around a bit.
I cruise 3 or 4 times a year and book all my cruises on the following website - try it out to see if they have better rates...
cruisevalue.com
cruiseonly.com is also good |

I haven't seen Disney give last minute deals in years. Their 2 ships are full and they don't need to. Since I've been on the ship, I'll tell you worth it. No one takes care of families like Disney. Mickey & Minnie meet you ant the dock and it's Disney from there on. We took the cruise over Halloween and the kids got to trick-or-treat onboard with Captain Hook.
One way you may be able to save some money is if you've included air through them. I searched several airline websites until I found our air deal. Saved us 50% off the cost of the air through Disney. My travel agent got us a good deal on the cabin and we had a great time. Since it was hurricane season, we did see a different itinerary because of the weather. But who cares - it was Magical!!! |

They do fill up fast!!! I actually call a couple weeks before and see if they have any free upgrades, the people on the phones at disney cruise line are friendly and nice and usually give good deals.
I would just keep the reservation you have, believe me its def worth the price your paying, I have been on disney cruise 4 times and am going to make reservations soon for another one. Everything about it is perfect you and your family are gonna have the greatest time.
Oh and did you book the cheapest room, that is what i do and just call if they have any free upgrades. One time they didn't though but still you wont be spending much time in your room so room sizes really dont matter. I only use my room for changing showering and sleeping. LOL! |

You are playing w/ fire if you do that. Disney is a very popular cruise line and fills up fast. Disney has very few sailings that are not full. I would not take that chance, but you can keep checking to see if your cruise price comes down. If you have the time check the prices 2 or 3 times a week. |
