Do I have to disembark by a certain time after my cruise? |
It may seem strange, but I'd like to stay on the cruise ship and relax until all the people in a hurry are off the ship. Will the cruise ship "kick us out" if we sit and have a leisurely breakfast until the crowds subside some? Our flight out isn't until the afternoon, and I would much rather spend time on the ship than in the airport. |

Depending on the cruise line and itinerary, last call for passengers not sailing on the next voyage is usually around 10:15-10:30 am.
Usually they will make an annoucement like
"Good morning ladies and gentleman, this is the last and final call for all passengers not sailing with the <insert name of ship here> to please proceed ashore using the gangway on Deck 5. Please be sure you have your boarding card in hand, as well as a completed Custom's Declaration card and proof of citizenship."
I know this because I used to work on a cruise ship and so heard the announcement week after week after week.
That was for the Caribbean, usually in Europe last call for passengers not sailing with the ship on the next voyage was usually earlier, around 9:00-9:30 am
You will however have to vacate your stateroom usually no later than 8:00 am. This is simply due to the fact that the Stateroom Attendants have a lot of work to do, and only a few hours in which to do it. And if someone isn't out in time, it really messes up the process in how everything gets done. |

The night before you leave, they will give you color coded luggage tags and a time when the luggage will be ready for pickup after you get off the ship.
Our time to leave was like 7:30 - 8 a.m.
(Our cruise was two weeks ago)
We never had time to even get breakfast, which kinda sucked for us.
They were serving breakfast, we just didn't make it in time before they called us to get off the boat.
We had the same thing, a 2 p.m. flight, so we ended up having to hang out at the airport all day.
We were on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas. I don't know how other cruise lines do it. |

We docked around 7am in San Diego. We had time to have breakfast then get all our stuff out or our stateroom. They gave us a color and a list of about how long it might take until we could disembark. We found a place on the ship and just relaxed and waited for our color to be called. Once it was called we walked right off the ship with no long lines to speak of. This cruise was with Princess. |

It depends on whether or not you are using the cruise transfers or not.
If you are making your own way to the airport you can probably stay on the ship to 1030 -1100. You need to be off the ship before the next crowd of passengers start boarding around noon.
If you are using the Cruise line transfers, you will be told when to go to the dock to identify your luggage and board the coach. It is usually done quite sensibly, those getting earlier flights go first, those getting later flights go later. Disembarkation starts as soon as the ship clears customs and the luggage has been unloaded to the dockside. The ship is cleared in a remarkably short time. |

I went on a cruise over a year ago so my memory may be failing me but I want to say I was under the impression that we could stay on the boat awhile but when the time came we we had about an hour to get off. It was horrible waiting for the gates to open to leave the ship. Everyone was crammed in the halls and on the stairs. It got hot really quick and smelled like breath. yuck! |

You can be the last off the ship if you like but on most ships the resturants close but of course if it is a morning disembark you can stretch out your breakfast. Don't worry, the crew will let you know when the latest time to leave will be. Have fun. |
