Your are fine for now with your BC and ID. Like the others here are saying. But next year you will need a PP. They now have a new passport card that you can apply for. It is the size of an ID and is cheaper than the standard PP. The only disadvantage about is you can only use it for CRUISE and CAR travel to Mexico and Canada. |

starting June 1,2009 you WILL need a passport. RIght now what you need is a VALID PHoto ID and your birth certificate.
IF you still have questions talk to the specific cruise line to ask that.

Travel to Mexico via land or sea does not require a passport, but that will change come June 1, 2009. If your cruise is completed before then, than you don't need one. |

On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.

By all means, get a passport! If your trip is very soon and you won't have time to get a passport in hand, please be very careful with your birth certificate! It is a primary target for thieves, who sell them to other thieves for use in identity theft. Keep it locked in your cabin, don't show it around at all, and don't let anybody photocopy it! |

Yes, you now need a passport or passport card to travel to Mexico. I was able to acquire one within about three weeks. Go to your local post office for the forms or you can get them online. ^..^ |
