Do cruise liners (and other ships)...?
Dump their sewage and other waste in the sea, or is it stored and unloaded in port (except for those big nuclear-powered carriers that go for YEARS without stopping anywhere!).?
It is not illegal to dump waste.
There are different lines of mileage from the cost, the further away, the more they can dump.
Plastic, Oil, Chemicals are not allowed.
Food waste, human waste, even paper are.

Some cruise lines have a NO waste policy, but from the ones I´ve worked (some 12 over the years), only Island Cruises applies it.
Carnival and its sister companies dump a lot of waste form example.
Its funny that the worst possible cruise line to travel is the only one that applies that rule, Island.

Cruise ships actually refine their oil, treat human waste and incinerate their garbage.
They really are floating Towns

Modern liners and freighters recycle all their effluent and waste products and discharge them in port.

It's illegal to dump at sea and anyone caught doing so faces massive fines.
All modern ships sort and store their waste until they reach port where they send their waste to be recycled. Sewage is treated and offloaded in Port.
