Do cruise ships have internet access?

Show all answers

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
Yes, I have been on many cruises with several cruise lines and in the past 4 or 5 years they all have had internet access, including WI-FI service. However, the internet access on ship is really expensive. The last cruise we were on, a RC ship, internet access was about $50 an hour and that is the going rate on cruise ships.

I always advise cruiser to skip the on ship service and wait until you get to a port where you can usually find an internet cafe where you can get access of $5.00 or $6.00 an hour. I have done this many times around the Caribbean and elsewhere. Many times the internet cafe is right at the port or if you ask a local person they can tell you where it is.

I took my laptop on Seabourn and was frustrated at the continuous dropped connection. Especially since I paid up front for a package price (it was expensive), and ended up with at least two hours unused time.

They also have a computer room. I would recommend this if you go on a cruise. I found the cabin connection service to be very, very iffy.

Yes they do, but....its really slow and costs a lot and sometimes you never get where your wanting to go. On Princess if you are in a suite higher then Mini suite its free. I spent 2 hours in their computer room and never could get to my e-mail and no one else in the room was having any better luck. I finally just gave up and figured it wasn't worth the hassle. Thank goodness it was free for me or I would have owed quite a bit for nothing.

Yes, it costs something like $0.50 per minute. Not too bad, but why go on the internet during a cruise? ;)

Yes, but it's expensive. The computers are slow but once on it;s okay. Carnival now has cell phone towers installed and we were able to use our phone up on deck without any trouble.
have fun...

Most cruise ships do have Internet access. Some have wireless access, and a few have bow to stern wireless access. However, it can be costly (about 50¢ per minute) and slow (dial-up speed).

Most cruise ships have an Internet cafe. However, you cannot access any the CD drives or any USB ports. So basically all you can do is look at what is on the monitor and respond to e-mail.

If you have your own laptop computer, then you can send photos via the Internet, but again, the connection speed is slow.

yes but it will cost like 50 cents per minute

Not sure, but if the technologically stunted royal navy can get internet access I'm sure cruise ships can!
