YES YOU DO!!!! Dont listen to those ppl that are saying no you dont. YES YOU DO!!
I just took a cruise to the bahamas from florida in January. You absolutely need one or they will not let you on board.
Passports can sometimes take 3 months to get so you better act fast and go get one ASAP!!

For THIS June you are OK. (The State Department says currently says passports will be required "as early as June 2009".)

That said, even now you can't fly to/from the Bahamas without a passport. So if for some reason you missed the ship or got sick while you're there, you'd have some problems getting home.

So you might want to get a passport to be on the safe side.

Im ok now

My ex went on a cruise to mexico last october and needed one. A friends kids just went with their dad to Jamaica, and a couple of other stops and also needed them. I think the rules have now changed to include arriving by ship.

No u dont need it but i would advise u to get it. It doesnt take alot of time to get one. Anything can happen and u need to fly home, its better to be prepared.

As of this moment you dont need a passport. However, these rules could change at any moment. You need to check with your cruise line to see if they have any different requirements from the state department for passports. For example, Carnival was telling their guests a few months back that they anticipated needing a passport in the summer of 2008. It is always a good idea to get a passport. They are very easy to get through your local post office.

For the Bahamas, U.S. citizens traveling by sea must have government-issued photo identification and a document showing their U.S. citizenship (for example, a birth certificate or certificate of nationalization).

A passport is not necessary.

no, just photo id or birth certificate.

No. I went on a cruise last year to Mexico and did so without a passport. As long as you enter via ship, you do not need a passport, for now atleast.

However, with that being said, it is a good idea to go ahead and get one. If you miss the boat, you will have no way of reaching it. Where as if you have a passport, Carnival or whatever cruise line you are working with can fly you out to the boat.
