Do the motion sickness bands work for cruising?

I am going on a cruise next week, have patches, wondered about the bands instead...

Well, my mother was a physician and LOVED the wrist bands. She found them extremely helpful when we cruised together. (Myself, I don't really get motion sick.)

The patches definitely work too, but according to the instructions you should only wear them for three days at a time because the chemicals are not really good for you.

You can read more about how to avoid getting sea sick here:

Since everyone is different, differ things work for different people. The acupressure bands work for some people but I never found they worked for me.

The first time I took my kids on a cruise their pediatrician said to give them 12 hour decongestant to open up their eschean tubes which is what helps stabilize your equilibrium - I swear this works!

Not really, but it depends on the person. On that show Mythbusters they tried a bunch of different things and all of them did not work. I think their was one at the end that did but I can't remember what it was.

My husband used those bands and never got sick unless of course he drank too much. I don't know why the bands work, but they sure did work for him. Also on the cruise ships today there is very little movement. A lot less then a car or a ski boat or fishing boat. Most of the time you won't feel a thing. You are well prepared I think.

THEY SELL ON SHIP THIS GREY HAND BANDS THAT HAVE PRESSURE POINTS ON THEM, THEY REALLY WORK I HAVE NEVER BEEN SICK ON A SHIP BUT MY HUSBAND DOES AND HE DOES NOT SAIL WITHOUT THEM.

Clueless
We used the ones that go around your wrist. We go fishing on Lake Erie, which is very choppy. I was amazed how well they work. Even let our friends use them and they were amazed

If the wrist bands aren't on the exact pressure point then they don't work well. Just take Dramamine, the less drowsy formula works fine and it's more reliable.

My wife has tried the patches and bands. Plain old Dramamine pills work the best and they're a lot cheaper.
