Do the rules regarding liquids on planes also apply on cruise ships as well?

The correct answer from someone who cruises regularly is NO.

When you check in at the pier your luggage is taken by a porter to the place where it is put on ship. Luggage goes through its own security check just like at the airport. It is then later delivered to your cabin. With your cruise tickets you will receive luggage tags for your bags and those are used by the ship's staff to get your luggage to your cabin; tags have your name and cabin number on them.

After you check in you and all of your carry on things go through the same type security scanner, with the moving belt, that is used in the airports. However they do not ask you to separate out liquids and tubes of toothpaste. You can carry all of that in your carry on. I usually also carry on a few bottles of water and soft drinks for my cabin and have had no problem with that. However, do not attempt to carry on liquor as it will be picked up by the scanner and they will confiscate it. That is always one of the things that they look for when you first board and when you return to the ship at a port stop.

Most major cruise-lines allow you to bring whatever your drinking at the time (water bottle etc.). Your definitely not allowed to bring any alcohol on-board thou people get away with it, worst case they'll confiscate it & give it back at the end of the cruise. If you wanna give it a try definitly put it in your checked luggage wrapped under clothes or in an emptied out water bottle. If your trying to bring a bottle back from one of the ports wrap it in a beach towel thou the person working the scanner sees your bottle clear as day, they'll sometimes let you thru, if not you'll get it back last night of the cruise. Your also not supposed to bring your own refreshments like water bottles or soda, same as the movies your supposed to buy it there. But other than that, beauty or hair products are all fine in your carry on.

No, the cruise lines do not limit the size of the liquids allowed on board. Many people bring full sized bottles of mouth wash, shampoo, lotion, sun block, conditioner ...

Also you should note that the airline restriction only applies to carry-on luggage. You can put full sized bottles of liquid in your checked baggage. In fact, if you buy alcohol while on your cruise, the only way to get it home, if you fly, is to pack it carefully in your checked luggage. You cannot carry it on, even if it is still sealed.

No, but since you'll be flying to the city for your port of embarkation, you will be carrying those amounts with you. You really don't need to carry such items from home. Just as in a hotel, shampoo and soap are generally provided on board the ship and are restocked daily by your cabin attendant. If there are other liquids you need (mouthwash, for example) buy them when you get there.

The liquids you cannot bring onto your cruise ship and into your cabin are alcohol and soft drinks. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are sold on board and may be provided in your stateroom's mini-bar.

If you want to take alcohol or wine onboard, I suggest you pack it safely in your suitcase....like wrap a coupe t shirts around the bottles and put in middle of suitcase....they do not take away bottles or booze in checked baggage going on ship, they can however take away bottles from carryons as you go thru security....depends on the security officer at xray machine, they do frown upon taking booze on as it takes away from their sales.....(like its really going to kill them) very expensive to drink these days.....unbelievable....so since you are being driven and no ruff airline transfers involved....I would definately take a few bottles in checked baggage wrapped securely.....and enjoy onboard.....have fun

NO, you can bring liquids on board a cruiseship, it's not as strict as airplanes, so you're fine bringing liquids on board, as long as it's not alcoholic.

You can carry on liquids with only restrictions to alcoholic beverages. Depending on the cruise line and the itinerary alcohol is either limited or prohibited to be carried on unless packed in checked luggage. A general rule now seems to be no liquor carried on, wine/champagne limited to 1 bottle per traveling adult.
I have never been denied carrying soft drinks aboard and I have taken 14 cruises on 4 different lines ranging from 5 days to 31 days. The longer the cruise the more lenient the alcohol restrictions. Water is always allowed to be carried on and vodka in a water bottle gets through quite easily if you wish to sneak some on-board. The cheapest way to have drinks on-board is to order a bottle from room service. My last cruise charged $18 for a fifth of vodka and 3 cans of tonic water.

i would assume so....play it safe and dont bring more than u need to....the cruise line gives you shampoo and body wash
