Do you NEED foot protection on the beach?

I know ppl wear rubber shoes, and sandals, but is there really a lot of stuff on the shores that can hurt you on public beaches? Is there glass or something. I've seen barefooted ppl too. Just want some first hand experience..going to Grand Cayman in March and want to know.

Yes. There is glass, sharp rocks or shells, could be dirty needles (even in the nicest of areas) and many other things. Most people don't think about it or don't care but I have had my feet cut on enough sharp shells and rocks here in Fl to know better.

Most vacation spots rake the sand in the morning and pick up trash. Might need sunblock though.

i've always walked barefooted (shoes r evil) lol

foot protection is always a good idea if you don't know for sure what you'll be walking on. you sure would hate to step on something that might spoil your holiday. i am barefoot most of the time and have paid dearly for it more often than i care to remember.

There are some beaches that you would be better off wearing foot protection but others theres no need. The beaches where I surf at theres no need to wear them, but its still smart to look where you step because it only takes one idiot to put a needle in the sand or leave broken glass laying around. You should always watch where your walking if you have bare feet, beach or no beach.

Yes there can be glass and other stuff on a beach you should be careful.

But the number one reason to wear foot protection in the sand is that stuff gets really hot! The sand has been sittin out in the sun all day, it absorbs heat pretty easily so it can hurt trying to walk across that stuff.

yes, if the beach has lots of stones and other sharp objects buried in the sand. There are slimy thing on the beaches too so foot protection is good!
