Do you have any suggestions on a ship for a Carnival Cruise?

I am planning on taking a cruise to either the western or eastern Caribbean and would love some suggestions for where to go (Western/Eastern; ports) and what ship to take. Thank you!

if one of the ports is Nassau, you should definitely go to Atlantis Resort. it's beautiful there, and you'll be guaranteed a tonne of photo opportunities ;)

for St. Thomas, you should join a snorkelling excursion (you should be able to sign up for that at, actually, any port) . . . but i just want to tell you that snorkelling is really fun. when the sunlight penetrates the water, you can see schools of fish, as well as starfish and urchins. you might consider an underwater camera for this excursion. also, a must visit would be Magen's Bay, voted one of the world's top beaches.

for St. Maarten, a little shopping is best. there's this famous store, the name of which eludes me, that specialises in solar-powered souvenirs (like accessories and clothing . . . and even nail polish . . . that changes colour in the sun). you can also pick up designer jewellery and watches for a discounted price.

hope this helps! :D

oh yeah . . . and if you're wondering which Carnival ship to take, i would recommend the Carnival Glory. i went on it last year, and it was a blast! the prices are reasonable and the food and entertainment . . . absolutely superb ;)

I LOVE The Carnival Glory- I would do Eastern Caribbean, the ports were beautiful and I would have loved to have stayed for another week! St. Marteen was my favorite.

I went on the Imagination, a while back, and it was a nice ship, but I would say any of the newer ships would probably be the best. I mean they have more to do, and the rooms are spacious, and they have the amazing waterslide. I would recommend Eastern Caribbean, and try to visit ports like St. Thomas, USVI, and St. Maarten, Netherland Antiles. Those both are amazing ports, and they are just so fun. In St. Thomas you can snorkel, and its really pretty, and in St. Maarten, you can take a tour of both sides of the Island because one side speaks only french and then one side speaks dutch, and both are about equal in size, but you dock on the dutch side. It's a really cool area.

If you do go to the Western side, I would highly recommend that if your ship stops in Jamacia, dont get off. The people in the flea markets are really pushy and if you have little children some of the locals might try to grab them. Also, just recently a Carnival ship was docked in Montego Bay, which isnt a very nice place to begin with, except for the scenery, anyhow 7 to 10 passengers were held at gunpoint and robbed apparently. I'm not sure what all happened, but this is not the first time something like this has happened to passengers on a cruise ship. Be very cautious. I would highly recommend to not get off there. Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, on the other hand are amazing ports, that I would also recommend you visit. Other then that just have fun.

You should try the Bahamas cruise on the Sensation. The Atlantis Hotel is a must see before you die. Intrigued Travel has deals right now on all Carnival cruises.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
I suggest that you skip the Carnival cruise and go on the new Royal Caribbean ships Freedom of the Seas or Liberty of the Seas. Both of these ships are brand new, one launched last year and the other just a few months ago. They both do Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. We did the Western Caribbean itinerary on the Freedom and the port stops were Cozumel, Grand Cayman island, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and then the RC's private island in Labadee, Haiti. The ship, food and service will be much better than you will get on Carnival.

Cozumel is a good stop for beach time, snorkel, and scuba. Not much else in my opinion to see and do. We toured the island on one trip there and didn't see anything to go back to see again. Grand Cayman is great for beach time. They have a place called 7-mile beach which you can reach by taxi or bus. Ocho Rios is a nice stop and I recommend the river rafting trip. It's safe, fun and scenic.

The highlight of this RC itinerary is the private island. Its a huge island with several beaches and they have a tram to take you around. There is a market where you can buy native crafts. Then you can go Jet Ski, Para-sail, snorkel, or play in their water park. They bring food ashore for a beach party and every thing is first class.
