Yes, the rate that you see quoted is per guest based on a two-guests sharing a cabin.
Other notables...the teaser rates you see advertised for cruises is usually for the smallest cabin and does not include port fees and taxes. Port fees can add $75-100 bucks in addition costs. Be sure that your travel agent includes these fees upfront in any quote they give you.
If you share a larger cabin with 4 people and share the costs, it will be less per person because the 3rd and 4th guests get a cheaper rate.
You don't spend much time in your cabin...shower, change, sleep so don't worry about booking an interior cabin.
Other costs that add up but are NOT included in your cruise fee...
- Tips...$10 per guest per day. ($50 for 5-day cruise, $70 for a 7-day cruise)
- Soda. $1.75 per can or $35-45 days for unlimited by the glass.
- Bar drinks. $4-12 each plus 15% gratuity.
- Spa services. $50-200 per service
- Shore excursions. $50-200 per excurstion.
- Bingo. $5-10 per card.
- Photos. $20-25 per sheet.
- Gourment coffee and pastry shop. $4-8 per item.
- Casino - $$$$
- Taxis on shore - $5-20
- Tips for shore excursion staff.
- Shopping in port
With the exception to the tips, all of the other costs are option. My sister uses a cash account on board so she never overspends.
Cruising is still a good vacation value. Consider that $400 pays for a week of hotel, unlimited food and entertainment.
We cruise often with our extended family. Our costs, even with spending money ends up being less than $140 per per per day. |

Typically the prices are quoted as per person double occupancy, meaning the price quote is per person if two people are in the cabin. If only one, the price is different. Usually 150% of the quoted per person rate for an inside room and 200% for all other categories.
If there are three or four in a cabin, then the 3rd and 4th person pays a reduced fare. For example, if an ocean view cabin is quoted as $800 per person and the third person rate was $300, then the cost would be:
One person - $1600
Two people - $1600
Three people - $1900 ($800 x 2 + $300)
Four people - $2200 ($800 x 2 + $300 x 2) |

Yes, you pay for eveyone BUT if you go as a pair in the same room you can get a little discount compared to $400 for two people in different rooms |

The answer is YES and NO. If you are going with just one or two people, each person must pay to cruise. On most cruise lines if you take a cabin with a 3rd or 4th person in a cabin, their cost is reduced from the price of the 1st and 2nd passengers. If traveling with friends take that cost and split it by the number of people in the cabin. But WAIT - want to know how you can cruise for FREE? Become a pied piper. Organize a group of 16 or more friends (on most sailings), contact a cruise specialist and you can travel for FREE. The cruise lines award one free bed per so many beds sold within a group. Some sailings do not apply because of the cruise lines determine special sailings where the have a disclaimer for these smaller groups. So plan a family or school reunion and make sure your cruise specialist knows you are their peid piper! |

Not if you get a two for one companion certificate. It's just like a free companion airfare except for a crusie. if a seat or room isn't used it's costing money. the cruise ship would be much happier full, even if there are a select few people that pay less to get on board. ask me how to get one. |

Yes. But you will usually pay a higher price if you purchase a cruise for 1 person rather than 2, its called a single supplement charge. |
