The first post is wrong, you do not automatically get your own table. You can request at the time of your booking, however it's extremely unlikely you will get a table for 2. However, once you are on the ship on the first night go up to the maitre d' and ask for your own table---chances are you will get one.

before you embark the ship. all of the name of the passenger, and some basic information will be send to the ship. then a team of people from the dining room will arrange the seating plan of all the passenger. mostly its done by the cabin. age group, and family. on your first day on board the Maitre D' provide a time for you to choose a table (if available for 2). Example on the first night you don't like the table you have. the next day you can ask again the Maitre D' if there's a possibilty to change table.

But as other recommend its better for you to have 1 or 2 more couple in the table. you never now the suprises awaits you.

I've been working in the restaurant for 4 years on a crusie ship. and observe a lot of people. enjoying the companion of others. But if you really like the most romantic dinner! just approach the Maitre D'

Yes, you get paired with other people and that can be the fun part. I think if you insist you can get a table for 2 but how boring that is. Have fun, share a story, a laugh and get to know your other mates.

I believe you can get a table for two,if you reqest it. We like a large table and have met some really great people.

I have only been on Carnival Cruises. They seat you most often with at least one other couple. However prior to your arrival or when booking, you can request a dining table for just the two of you. If they have one available, they'll give it to you.

If you eat in the dining room, tables for two are usually very limited (I haven't seen many of them). Perhaps talk to your travel agent about reserving one. I'm sure if you ask for a booth you wouldn't be placed with another couple, as booths usually hold 4 people and it would probably be a little uncomfortable sharing a booth with other people.

Tables are usually for 4, 6, 8, or 10 people.

However, if you don't eat in the dining room, you can sit at any table and most likely no one will sit with you.

Opt for the buffet for more casual dining. You get to chose your time and type of clothing. The choices are more extensive and you can browse all you want or get in and out quickly. You are not served, but can pick your choice of view and get a cozy table for two, if you prefer. This option is avaialbe on all major cruise lines. You do not have to abide by your assigned dining room seating. Or use it as an option for the nights you want to be more spontaneous.

Only if you go on NCL. They have a thing called Freestyle Cruising so you eat where you want and when you want. In the restaurants where you are seated by a host/hostess (which there are only a couple), you might have to sit by someone else depending on when you go and if it is crowded. If you go to a restaruant where you pick your own seat, you will get your own. On other cruise lines, you sit with who they pick. You don't have a choice.

The cruises I've been on, the tables were set for six. They put us with two other honeymooning couples, so we all had a lot in common & enjoyed the meals a lot. There was one couple who had a table to themselves, but to be honest, he looked like he was a gangster or in the Mafia or something - scary! & she really looked more like a mistress or a "kept" woman than a wife - big hair, sparkly evening dresses, tons of jewelry, even furs!! (none of the rest of us dressed up THAT much!) So perhaps that's an option you CAN request - call the cruise line & ask them if it's possible, then go ahead & set it up - if you know your sail date, etc. Bon Voyage!!! (p.s. - the food is always really terrific!!)

All cruise lines have tables of 2. If there have designated times you have to request it and it is not guaranteed. If you are traveling on a line that has open seating they will sit you at whatever table is open. You can request a table of 2, but it is first come first serve.

It really depends on which cruiseline. On many of them, there are a variety of table sizes ranging from 2 to 10. Personally, my family would rather be at one of the larger tables as you get to meet people that you can exchange info about the various experiences you encounter during the cruise, and also the best waiters tend to be assigned to the bigger tables (they have the opportunity for more tips that way).
On Princess, you can request "anytime dining" rather than "traditional". AD means you show up at the time you want to eat (sometimes you can make standing reservations once onboard), but you may also have to wait...just like restaurants on land.

Your table will be just you and your wife. You get your own table and your own dining time. You also get the same waiter/waitress everytime. Don't worry. Have fun!
