Do you need a passport for a cruise from Texas to Hawaii?

It depends if the ship stops in a different country along the way. For example, if you went from Texas to Mexico, Panama or Jamaica (or granada or etc... you get the idea) you will have to bring a passport with you. However, if it's just a straight shot from Texas to Hawaii with no disembarkation in another port then I believe you won't need one. Call your cruise line for more details; some of them require you to bring one regardless.

no but you will need a boat oh and exchange your alaskan dollars for american before you go .

If you stop in another country, you will need a passport to get off and on the ship. If not, then no, you won't need a passport. Hawaii is part of the United States, same as Texas.

forealztho69
I can't give you a definite anwer since Hawaii is part of the US. But you can take me if you want :)

Jewlgrl
You'll need to go to the Hawaiian consulate in Texas to get one.
On second thought, Hawaii happens to be part of the United States, so I guess you wouldn't need a passport. Hmmmm....

No. Hawaii is a part of the US. However it might be a good idea to have yours updated just in case.

For one thing, there isn't a cruise going from Texas to Hawaii. There are cruises going from San Diego, Ensenada, Los Angeles, Vancouver. Also some that involve Tahiti and Fanning Island.

When you are on a foreign flagged ship, you will be required to stop at a distant foreign port if you are beginning and ending your cruise in an US port. Thus, if you are going round trip to Hawaii from Los Angeles, you will stop in Ensenada.

The exception to this is the NCL America ships (Pride of Hawaii, Pride of Aloha, and Pride of America) which are US-flagged and just go to Hawaiian ports.

So if you going on a Hawaiian cruise, aside from the NCL America ships, you will need a passport (at least when the new passport rules go into effect).

You will need an official photo ID to get back on the ship after a visit in any port, so the passport comes in very handy.
