As long as you are flying out of a US destination with no stops in other countries then you do not need one. Hawaii is part of the US so If you are a US Citizen then you do not need a passport.
If however, you are a US citizen and are leaving out of Ensenada, MX or Vancuver, Canada and are flying their at any point during your cruise then you do need a passport.Even if for instance you are driving to Ensenada or Vancuver, and your cruise is not roundtrip and you get off in Honolulu and have to fly back to your car in Ensenada or Vacouver, then you do need a passport. If you are taking a roundtrip Hawaii cruise then you dont need a passport either. Hope this helps. |

No because Hawaii is a US state. If you are not a US citzen then you will need it.
I know as of Dec 2006 most cruises require you to have a passport. I needed one for the 2 week celebrity cruise line cruise I went on this past march and we were flying into PR. |

If you are going before Jan, 2009, then you do not need one, but after that you do because cruise ships must go to a foreign port like Ensenada and the ship will require one. I'm going on a Hawaiian cruise this fall on Princess cruises and they like it better if you do have a passport and it must be good for 6 months past your cruise date, but to be on the safe side, do call you cruise company. I heard of someone who had their birth certificate, but just a copy, not the original with the seal on it and he got turned away from cruising. That is why even though you may not be required now, to me it is worth the expense to get one. They are good for 10 years after you get it. |
