Does Carnival search your bags in front of you? |
I am going on a cruise in a couple days and have heard that sometimes they check your bags and sometimes they don't but if they find alcohol they just confiscate it. My question is if they do the searching in front of you or do they take them and search them before delivering them to your room. |

Your carry-on bag they do search in front of you. Actually they put it through an ex ray just like at the airports. All the other bags may or may not be searched or exrayed. One thing to know is they must check like around 4,000 to 6,000 bags rather quickly and get them loaded at the dock an on the ship in a matter of a couple of hours. So what they do to your other bags has to be done quickly.. The last time I cruised, last year, I put wine in my checked bag and it arrived just fine when the bags were delivered to the rooms, but from what I understand, I was taking a risk. |

Depends..... if they decide to search your bags, they will do it in front of you. My daughter (21) went on a spring break crusie and they went thru 1/2 of the kid's luggage - and took their booze. The other 1/2 got to keep theirs. No rhyme or reason to whom got picked for search. It was not too much fun for her. They went thru everything |

Your bags go through a metal detector, just like the ones at the airport. You can tag or "check" your bags in just like you can on a plane, and you can also bring a carry on. We usually bring a backpack with a change of clothes (It can take several hours before your bags may arrive. You may be 100 miles out at sea before they get there.
If you bring a carry on, they will put them through a conveyer belt and look at them through an advanced security screening system.
You can try and bring a small amount of alcohol on board. I wouldn't bring anything too expensive because you always run the risk of it being confiscated. If you only have one or 2 bottles, they probably won't take it. They go through THOUSANDS of bags that day. |
