I sailed with Celebrity in July this year and an Alcoholic drinks package was not an option.
To be honest, if you don't want to spend a lot on drinking, you are better paying for what you drink. Unless you drink a lot, the drinks package is quite expensive, remember on a 7 day you only have normally one day at sea, the other days you are in port exploring.
The packages that were available on some of the cruises I have been on, quite a few years ago, cost £150 / $300 per person per week.
The only lines that offer a drinks package, that I know of, are, Thomson Cruises, Island Lines and Ocean Village Cruises, I don't think that any of the lines out of the US do it any more. |

Some cruise lines sell "Drink Cards" that you can purchase Post-Cruise. I usually smuggle a bottle of my favorite drink (Jack Daniels) onboard, purchase 1 or 2 drinks (for the glasses) and go to my cabin for refills. Most cruise lines will offer the "Drink Of The Day" in their speciality glasses for $7 or $8 then allow you to get refills in the same glass for a discount (usually about $1 or $2 less).

You can get a card for soft drinks, but not for alcohol. The best way not to spend a lot of money on drinking is to not drink very much. (If you are caught bringing alcohol to the ship it will be taken from you and returned at the end of the cruise.) |
