Hey Qgirl!
Are you ready for fun to the next level and at sea? Because that's what being on Carnivals Destiny wil be. The destiny is ginormous and even huge... It just got a major remodel and it's still a newer ship. The atrium/lobby called "the rotunda" will just have you standing there staring up and asking yourself, "This place moves?".
Everything is all about having the fun on a Carnival ship - the fun always has music - and dancing - and drinking!!
Some helpful hints:
*The only time you need to be super serious is during the lifeboat drill. Be respectful they are only there to save your life...
*Don't lay into the drinks too fast or too much the first night out - that way you can find out if you have "sea legs" or if oyur going to need to wear a patch. Nothing is worse than a hungover person discovering that they are also motion sick...Bummer one as far as the patch is concerned: You can't drink when you have one on.
*Keep an eye on what your putting on to that little ship board credit card you'll get. I've seen some pretty freaked out folks on the last day. One college kid went up onto the stage of the theater where we had to sit and wait (my least favorite part of a cruise) until our goup was called to leave the ship and showed his bill to everyone - good thing he was rich - because it was a multi-page computer print out that was longer than he was tall! I know I cheered - my feeling was/is that anyone who can drink that much and still be standing at the end of four days is amazing.
*Last but not least - some folks feel kind of wierd about being assigned a table to dine at with strangers. Forget about it. You'll make friends and I have always learned more about where to go and what to do at the dinner table than from any guide book.
The only thing might be what size table you want to be at. If you want to check that out then when you board go to the front desk and ask when the dining room staff will be available to assist you with a table selection. Most times you can even change the time you will dine too. No problem just remember them at the end of the cruise when it's tip time.
Ohh yeah: Tips! These folks work for - well they don't get rich on what the cruise company pays them, - so keep an eye on your wallet and don't forget to show them your thanks. (Heck the cute little figures the room stewards make with towels on your bed for you to find when you finally get back to your room to nose dive into a recovery coma make a tip mandatory!)
Have a great cruise and let us know how it goes!

We took a Carnival cruise 2 summers ago. It was an absolute blast. I could be a Carnival spokesperson. There was lots to do: games, entertainment, shows, karoke, casino, shopping, shore excursions, movies, parties, inc. captain's with free drinks and appetizers, pools, gym, etc. You get a flyer delivered to your room each night listing all of the next day's activities. There will be things such as pictionary- played by teams- blast, newlywed game, bingo, art auctions with free champagne, themed parties on deck, gambling tournaments such as blackjack, slots, texas hold em, music, comedians- usually a late night show for adults only, broadway like productions. There is a mix of ages from kids to older adults. You will have no problem hooking up with people your own age. Food is in abundance. Make sure your dinner seating is with a group- makes it more fun. I can't say enough good things about Carnival. Make sure you carry hand sanitizer with you at all times and use it- make a point of not putting your hands near your mouth. Viruses (GI) run rampant through cruise ships. Hand hygiene will be your best defense. You seriously do not want to have vomiting and diarrhea when your sharing one tiny bathroom. I made all my kids carry the stuff and reinforced that they use it consistently. No one had any illness in our party. Have a great time. If you need any additional info, contact me. |

carnival cruises are probably the best cruise ships out there, not the most luxurious, but the most fun. on board theres a ton of things to do, they have shows in the theater everynight, and once you reach a destination, there are tons of more "adventures" you can go on. it can get rather expensive at a hundred bucks a person for an adventure, but you're on vacation, live a little. I highly recommend you take part in one of their offerings on a destination, that probably the most fun part of the trip. i've been on a couple cruises, and carnival's are the best. good luck and have fun! |

Carnival is the ship you want to take if you are going with small children. If you are going just as young adults that may be annoying, because there will be kids everywhere.
Holland is more older people (my grandparents always take that)
And
Princess, Royal, norweigan are the ones that have more of the mixture of ages and are better for young adults. I am 28, and taking Princess next January! It's been my favorite so far. |

Carnival Destiny was having some problems -- read cruisecritic.com to find out current status. Read article where cruise was delayed in port -- no electricity, etc. causing passengers to miss flights, work, etc. |

We went on the Inspiration and had a great experience. The rooms weren't super clean and the bathroom was tiny in the cheapest rooms, but we had a great time. The food was great, and there was always something different being offered. It was mostly bland, but there is a very different menu daily. We booked on www.skyauction.com for 1/3 the price others paid. Check them out and feel free to e-mail me if you have more questions. |

I went a few years ago expecting peace and quiet, relaxing in the sun and hot tub, fun and excitement.
What I got was kids doing cannonballs in my hottub. On top of that good luck finding a chair in the sun. Remember, the open ocean is much colder than you think.
The night life was ok, a couple of over priced nightclubs and a casino.
The food is probably the best part, 24 hour buffets I can get used to. Food quality is about B-/C+. |
