Does anyone know if you can book two excursions on the same day on a cruise ship?

There is no problem with booking two half day excursions on the same day.
Even if you book them online, and you find that when you are on board the ship that the times clash, (check at the excursions desk that the times you find online are correct), you can cancel either or both and book something else if you wish. The excursion desk is only to willing to accept your money and will try to accommodate you.
The half day excursions usually have enough time between them, unless something unusual happens, for those who are doing two excursions to get a quick lunch before leaving on the next trip.

You probably can but I wouldn't reccomend doing it. They tell you how long exersions last but sometimes they can be longer depending on what happens or if there is a delay.

I just went on a cruise this past march and while on it one of our excursion times got changed. So I understand you want to get a lot in, but you best bet is to do an excursion and then walk around a bit afterwards, that way you don't end up missing your second excursion and losing your money.

Yes you can book 2 x 1/2 days. but be careful about timings in case you have an overlap midday if late back from the morning one!

Why not do what we do? See what the cruise line offers so you know where to go and what happens. Then hire a car locally from the internet before you go and do it yourself! You will see more (stop where and when you want to) and have a longer/better day and it will be cheaper than buying 2 shore excursions!

I think it depends on the cruise line but I think so!

I did a half day excursion once and when we got back, the afternoon excursion left.

Based on my experience with shore excursions running over the allotted time and other traffic issues, booking 2 shore excursions could be risky.

Most of the half day shore excursions start in the morning and leave the afternoon open for shopping, etc. However, there are a few that have staggered start times.

You can never tell what is going on in a port that could impact your return time to the ship....last trip to Jamaica, we were there on the night of a big national football (soccer) game. The highways were jammed with people trying to get into the stadium.

We pick one excursion per port of call...you are usually so exhausted that one is enough!

No problem. The cruise line will be only too glad to take your money. And with luck, the first tour might get back before the second one leaves.

I disagree (somewhat) with the previous posters. My husband and I have been able to book (and go on) two shore excursions on the same day on several caribbean islands. When we cruised with Cunard, we were able to call the shore excursion department in advance and find out what time the excurions leave. On NCL, we were able to see the departure times on the website. I do agree that scheduling two excursions can be tricky and stressful, but if there are two things you want to see and the timing works, I say go for it.

Also, I do agree with the caution mentioned above-- excursions DO occasionally run over time. I would leave 30minute cushion minimum between return of the first and setting out on the second (also, ask yourself, do I want to leave time to run up to the buffet and grab a sandwich?) so that you don't miss the 2nd. Secondly, CONFIRM with the cruise line (you may not be able to get it in writing, but get the name and position of the person you talk to) that if you miss the 2nd excursion because the first one runs over, that they will refund you the cost of the 2nd excursion-- we have had that done before without problems with the transfer from excursion A to excursion B did not work out as smoothly as we hoped.

No. There is generally only enough shore time to do one trip per day and if you are late back the ship they will leave without you. I've seen it happen at Naples, a very embarrassed couple were delivered to the ship by a pilot boat several miles off shore.
