Drinks on a cruise?

I've never been on a cruise, but I know drinks are expensive. What's the best way to go about bringing booze on the boat with you?
Additional Details
It's a 14 day cruise, and I'm driving to the port, I'm not flying, I want to have more money to spend on the islands. and Ashley 420 I think you shouldn't answer questions if your going to be rude.

My husband and I always buy the wine package at dinner on our cruise that way we have a bottle of wine every night and the price is reasonable. There are also "drinks of the day" on most ships (especially Royal Caribbean). In that case you can get a good drink for between $3-$7. You can also get free drink coupons if you are a frequent cruiser or gamble in the casino. I think you would be surprised how much you can drink on a cruise for not very much money.

I personally would never bring booze onboard because I would be too afraid of being caught and them confiscating it. However on my last cruise all of the couples at our table except us had brought alcohol with them in their suitcases and had not been caught. I'd not saying to do this, but I'm saying I know at least 6 people that got away with it.

Its said that is you want to take vodka, pack several bottles of bottles water with one of them containig your desired drink.

I just came from a cruise less than two weeks ago and I used a "Listerine whitening Pre-Brush rinse" bottle. I used that bottle because it's not see through. But you MUST run hot water in it for at least 10 minutes, so your choice of alcohol won't taste like mouthwash. Or you can use soda bottles. Because you can bring sodas on board.

Drinks are really not that expensive on the cruise. I just got back from the Explorer of the seas and the price of drinks was less than what I pay at a Chili's, Friday's or that type of restaurant. You can try to sneak it on but is it worth it? They will confiscate the bottle if they find it.

Just go and enjoy.

you didn't say what cruise line you are going on. i was on carnival a few months ago and drinks also include the tips to the bartender. non of my mixed drinks were over $5.50 total. hope that helps. have fun!

If you really want to bring your own booze make sure that you stay an extra day early to be able to shop around. THere are liquor shops usually near the pier so you can pick your choice - you're not supposed to, although you can still bring some on the ship. That's what we did, we still ended up getting wine onboard for dinners but the "inbetweens" we brought ourselves. And make sure you finish your booze before your cruise is over, especially since you are only allowed a certain amount of liquor to bring on the plane and it's not even allowed in your carry-ons.

Put a bottle of your favorite spirits in your suitcase, or pack a dozen oranges or grapefruit with Vodka injected in them.

You can buy alcohol on board the boat, usually, once you leave port...duty free prices too, I might add. The mixers, however, are still up to you.
For a bottle of wine with dinner, you're gonna pay around 35. No way around it, unless you wanna risk it.
But for the onset of your trip, you may be permitted to take some alcohol on board...check into it with the cruise line you're going on.

check your guest guide. most times you can just carry it with you in your suitcase. i did and never had a problem. depending on how long your cruise is...and if you stop at any ports....you can always buy more alcohol at a local shop. steer clear of the tourist trap stores. and any alcohol bought on the ship in the shops is duty free. what i did do the first time was buy two large bottles of tequila.....empty a shampoo bottle and a conditioner bottle, clean them thoroughly, and fill them up with tequila. if you take a shot at least once an hour, you can maintain a pretty good buzz your whole trip with maybe few drinks at the bar once in awhile. and don't forget to drink lots of water.

depending on how big of a drinker you are, i would DEFINITELY bring your own alcohol. i went on a 5 day cruise with a boyfriend and we brought vodka in a huge water bottle, rum in a lipton tea bottle, and crown in a coke bottle. we put all of these in our duffle bag with clothes, etc around it. we never got caught and saved a good $300 dollars because the mixers on the boat (juices, some sodas etc) are free so you end up making your drink in your room and just have to go back and forth for refills but you will save so much money. that was the best idea we had by far---- trust me!

Drinks are not expensive. You can probably bring a bottle or two of wine but it is not worth the effort.

many cruises have an all exclusive package where they pay for drinks and dinner for three meals a day. And you cant take any liquid with you now on planes, so, unless your driving to the cruise boat, well even then they check your bags, so, nope, try not being a cheap ***, if you cant afford the liquor on the boat either dont drink or dont go. You must be having financial probs if you cant afford the $7 drinks. so why you spending money on a cruise? dont be cheap. enjoy yourself.
