During a royal caribbean cruise, do they search you and your bags each time you get back on the ship?

is it easy to get alcohol on board

I put my booze in water bottles and/or mouth wash bottles. Works just fine. I have packed it in my luggage and put it in my purse - no problems either way.

Getting full bottles from a port back to the ship would be more difficult. They are looking specifically for it. Start off with it when you get on the ship and you'll be fine.

Booze is an important part of cruise revenue, but the drink prices are really expensive. I go on a cruise with X dollars to spend, and I'm spending it one way or another - mostly on the ship, so I feel no guilt in it.

Yes , they search before you get onboard.
If you buy alcohol on the cruise line gift shop or at a port the cruise line keeps that purchase until the end of your cruise and then they give it all back to you when you leave the ship.

have a great time

Yes, they search for alcohol. You might be able to get one bottle in without being caught. However, you can bring in the max you are allowed to take back into the US and they will hold it for you. All of this is much ado about nothing in my opinion because all RC ships have liquor stores and their prices are very reasonable.

Just got of the Monarch of the seas(through RC)a few days ago. I took alcohol in my luggage in a water bottle, and got some at a port and put it in a water bottle and stuck it in my purse. Piece of cake.

There will be search every time you enter the ship. On my cruise there was a airport check in style of search at the departure and a check point when you entered the ship at the dock. I never had any bagage when I got back to the ship in port of calls.

All alcoholic bevereges that you brings onboard will be taken away and stored untill you depart the ship. Youre also expected to hand in alcoholic bevereges you buy. The ships captain also have the right to refuse you from further travelling if he thinks youre a risk somehow and that will leave you on the dock.

So its not a good idea to try to smuggle alcohol in even if it can be done (And I dont think so after september 11). Alcoholic bevereges is an important part of cruise lines revenue and they want you to buy everything you use on the cruise on the ship. Its also a security matter since alcoholic beverages easaly could hold more explosive ordonance... Johan.

I believe that it is almost impossible to get alcohol on the boat. They are very strict b/c that is how they make all their money. When you board the boat for the first time, they will not allow you to carry your luggage on. You check it just like at the airport and it gets delivered to your room. When you get on from port, you have to go through a metal detector and place all your bags in the x-ray machine. You will have better luck getting some other party items on board as it is easy to get in the islands, but beware, when in port, they allow the DEA on board to search the ship.

Anything you carry on will go through an x-ray scanner like at an airport terminal. Usually they confiscate your booze when you are bringing it on from a port. (you get it back at the end of the cruise) When you are first boarding, sometimes they will turn a blind eye to it. As far as checked bags go, some get searched, some don't.

Tim & Diane D
Every time you board the Ship you have to go through metal detector just like a the airport. Your carry on bags go through the same machine as the airport. If you have a bottle of booze purchased at the port of call they will take it and mark it with your cabin number and you will get that back the last day of the cruise. Some cruise lines allow you to bring a bottle of wine or champagne make sure you bring a cork screw with.

They only X ray your bag and you walk through a magnetometer. The best way to tote a bottle on board is in a purse.
