First Time Cruiser And I Need Some Help!!? |
So I'm going on a cruise soon and it's my first time cruising and I need some advice. For instance, can we bring irons on the cruise or are they given to us in our rooms. Also, can we bring hair dryers or straightning irons? Each cruise is different and we are going on a Carnival cruise. Any advice would be helpful and thanks in advance!! |

I've sailed Carnival 3 times. They do have hair dryers in the rooms. You can bring your straight irons/curling irons etc. Just do not bring an Iron. They are not allowed in your stateroom due to fire hazzard. Onboard there is a laundry room complete with irons for your use. You just have to walk down there. Have you recieved your tickets yet? Included with your tickets is a "Before You Board" pamplet which answers this question and others. If you do not have it yet, you can go to Carnival's Website http://www.carnival.com and look under "frequently asked questions". This will save you some time instead of waiting for the correct response on yahoo.
Some things I will tell you:
If you drink alcohol-keep an eye out for happy hour
Bring your Carnival Capers with you everywhere! It is your lifeline (this is the daily paper they give you).
Watch some shows
If you are on a 7-day then keep an eye out for 30 minute vacation seminars which offer $onboard credit & free alcohol just for coming.
Leave the Beach towels at home b/c Carnival supplies them
If you are in on Oceanview or higher cabin you will recieve complimentary robes for the duration of your cruise. If you are in an interior stateroom then you can call and request them to be in your room.
Spend time taking the professtional photos-the develop them and you can look at them even if you do not buy them
Keep an eye out for 1/2 price & Ladies night at the Spa
Book excursions early
Wake up early enough to save a seat around the pool. |

There's a hair dryer in each cabin, I don't know about irons but they have laundery rooms with washers and dryers etc |

1) There are irons that you can get, but they're not in your cabin, you will have to ask specifically for them. If you want to be guarenteed one, I suggest just simply bringing your own. also, if you don't want to be bothered, there is a place on the ship where you can get your clothes ironed or whatever else you may need. It isn't free though.
2) There are hair dryers in each cabin, so you won't have to bring your own. If you want to, you can though. They don't have straighteners but you can bring your own.
Hope this helps and if you have any further questons feel free to send me a message!
I hope you have fun!! (: |

In general, irons should be available in the laundrette (if there is one- most companies provide plans of their ships so you can check what facilities you will get. Hairdryers will usually be provided in your cabin, but you will need to check with them if you can bring straighteners.
General advice for cruising: expect to have your photo taken A LOT, I haven't been on a carnival ship, but I have been on many others, and this is a common element: the ship will have its own photographer and photos are taken at all formal dinners, and often when you are arriving on board or leaving the ship on an excursion.
Check what the various dress codes are, again this varies with different companies, but bring formal outfits for going to dinner.
Also make sure you have enough money to pay tips to your waiter in the restaurant, and the person cleaning your cabin.
Enjoy yourself! |

No, you cannot bring an iron on the cruise - they are a fire hazard.
You can bring a hairdryer, but there will be one in the cabin.
Bring an extension cord - there is only one outlet in the cabin. Also bring a small clock - there are none in the rooms.
I disagree with Lollipop about getting to the pool early to "save" a spot. Unless you are going to be using the lounger first thing in the a.m., you'll have to take your chances when you come to the pool. If there are unoccupied chairs that are "saved" with a paperback book or a flip-flop, etc, just move them off [or give them to a pool attendant]. Chair-saving is not allowed and people who do it are roundly criticized by other cruisers as "chair hogs".
If you want lots of info about cruising, go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards" and find your favorite topic. I suggest, "Ports of Call", "First Time Cruisers" and "Money-Saving Tips" for starters.
Have a great cruise. |

I Just Came Off A Carnival Cruise & It Was Wonderful! They Do Not Allow You To Bring Irons Or Hairdryers. There Is An Ironing Board & iron In The Laundry Room. You'll Have To Check The location On Your Ship. You Only Have 1 Outlet To Plug Items In Your Stateroom. They Furnish A Hairdryer In Your Room. |

Well I don't know about irons but they do have hair dryers in the room. If you want to bring your own hair dryer you can and if you want to bring a straightener you can. |

They sometimes have a limited amount of irons for loan. Go check as soon as you board the ship.
And yeah, hair dryers are usually included in your room.
I wouldn't be a bad idea to buy a small iron and bring it over just in case....they also sell power adapter kits for travel, that way if you stay at a hotel you can use your iron with whatever electricity or plug they use there. |
