There will be only one formal night. Other two nights are casual.
Happy Cruising!

It depends on the cruise that you will be taking. Celebrity is a little more formal, in most cases.

The intenirary that you will be taking will be able to provide you with that information. You can call the cruise lines/ ask your travel agent for information for the cruise that you are looking into.

Most of the time cruises will have a formal night as well some casual nights. For a 3 night, I believe it is only one formal night (I don't do three nights too often) For casual you are still supposed to dress nice, and avoid things like jeans, shorts, t-shirts, swimsuits, etc.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
The dress on all cruise lines is casual all day until 6:00 PM when they ask that you dress "sports casual" in public places. So you can wear shorts and "T" shirts all day every day until then. Sports casual is the type of dreess you would wear to a busniess office. Not coat and tie, but a shirt with a collar or for the lady a skirt and blouse rather than a tank top and shorts. If you are going to the dining room, a show, the casino, the disco, etc, then its sports casual after 6:00PM.

On a 3 day cruise you will have one evening when the dress is formal, if you want to. Most people will dress up in everything froma tux to a suit or a long dress or just a dress. It is the SUGGESTED dress of the day and they will not kick you out of the dining room if you come sports casual. You may look kinda out of place, but you cna still go to the formal dinner. And eitehr way, no one will ever say anything about how you have dressed. So do it the way you want.

Formal means formal. Tuxedos for the gentlemen and gowns for the ladies. Semi formal is suits and ties for the gentlemen and dresses for the ladies, and casual excludes shorts in the dining room for dinner. But only about half the people on board comply with the standard. Which is a shame, because it takes from the atmosphere of those wanting to experience the formal environment.

I can understand after a fun day of excursions not wanting to dress up, but then choose one of the alternative dining venues on board. Wear jeans to the buffet or sit naked in your room and call room service. The dining room is not the only choice for dinner.

You definitely can dress up, but it doesn't need to be formal. I would suggest dressing as if you were going to a nice restaurant. I wore a dress every night on my cruise.
