Yes, you have to pay for infants when cruising with Carnival.

The price depends on how many are booked into the cabin.

If you are booking 3 or 4 persons in a cabin, then the baby can get the 3rd person rate...about 30% less than the 1 and 2nd guest rate.

If you and the baby are the old guests in the cabin, he will pay full price. You should also check about ticketing for shore excursions...many shore excursions charge for babies as well.

Notable...they will also charge for gratuities for the baby...visit the purser's office and have the tips removed from the baby's folio.

Another tip for cruising with a baby...leave the 4-wheel drive monster stroller at home. Take along one of the small, collapsible stroller. It will be much easier to use on board and in port.

We did not like the "crib" Carnival provided. It was really old and dirty from being in storage. We now take along our own playpen when traveling with infants in our family.

Book early if you want/need the early dinner seating. Carnival does not guarantee the dining seating but we have found the earlier we book, the better chance we have of getting the preferred dining seating. Time of dinner can be important for a little one.

Julie T is correct, great post!.... except I disagree with removing all tips for the baby. A 1 year old is mobile, he will be bathed, use towels, bedding, create trash, and clean-up after him will be necessary, too. He will also likely eat some table food, and the dining room servers may also bring those foods and drinks (milk, juice, etc) for him.

If you find that your child requires nothing whatsoever or very little, adjust tips accordingly. Otherwise, please consider that these servers are paid very little and depend on tips as part of their paycheck. I don't care for it, either, but it's just the way it is. If they go out of their way to serve you well, don't slight them.

I think we had to pay half price for our one year old. It was Carnival as well.

i don't think you will have to pay anything to tell you the Truth because they usally let young kids on for free i know they did for me.

Mookie
Baby does not cost anything for the cruise or the airplane. They are free until they turn 2. Have fun and enjoy they few freebies of the baby.
