I sometimes get queasy in the car in the mountains but have been fine on cruises. If you are worried, have your doctor write a prescription for scopolimine patch, called Trans-dermal Scop. It is a tiny patch you wear behind your ear, not very noticeable.

As long as the seas are calm (which typically they are), you will probably not notice it unless you are truly concentrating. It actually put me to sleep. It is kind of like sitting in your computer chair or rocking chair and EVER SO SLIGHTLY rocking back and forth. Does that start making you feel sick? If so, then I would suggest Dramamine (just make sure you take it plenty ahead of time-day or so-so it will kick in). Even if you think you will be okay, I would take it just in case (once you are sea-sick, there "ain't no going back.")

Have you ever been in a canoe, kayak, boat when you are sitting still but gentle waves are slightly rocking you? That is basically the feeling. During the day the ship generally goes slower because people are eating, etc. (so you normally won't notice much). Towards night time, the boat normally speeds up to cover ground, which is when I felt more rocking. It is a great experience and you should have a great time!!!

You can stop worrying and start looking forward to having a good time right now. The new ships are so large that the "motion of the ocean" is very minimal and slower than a smaller vessel. Just in case you're concerned, get your Bonine and wrist bands at Wal-Mart before you go. These items are over priced in the on board boutique.

The over the counter non drowsy formula for Dramamine works great. Just start taking it before your board and keep it handy. I usually take it day 1 and I am fine for the trip.

However, you might want to visit your doctor and get one of those patches.

I take the Dramamine but my nephew got the patch. We both were fine.

You can find wristbands at most pharmacies that you wear on your wrist that prevent motion sickness. They're the best because they don't alter you in any way, allowing you to enjoy your trip.

I've also tried patches you put behind your ear but they bothered my eczema.

I know there's an herbal Gravol that's sold too which is supposed to be excellent.

Hope you have a great trip!

you can't feel the sea on the large cruise ships these days. Sometimes momentarily you feel your seat 'move' a tiny bit.
Ginger is good and they have something you rub behind your ears that stops any sea sickness....ask at the bars

There's always a good and bad stories about cruising and I'm always on the good side. Have been on cruise 5 times already and considered no other type of vacationing can beat cruising.

I was nervous on every cruise I've been even I do not have motion sickness problem. So it is right to be nervous especially if you have that problem. After all, it's all up to you how you look at it.

If you keep concentrating on moving ship and get worry, you can even feel the earth moves.

When it's noticeably moving, I would go out on deck and get fresh air and focus on something else like birds, people, mountains other than moving ship or lie on my bed and watch TV.

Try that and wishing you for a great vacation.

Cruises are huge ships, and seasickness hardly ever happens. Don't worry about it. If you're still worried, get some ginger. Ginger helps seasickness.

I get carsick and airsick, but have never had a problem on a cruise ship. If you're concerned, you can ask your doctor for a pill that is prescription-only and excellent.

If you are prone to motion sickness, definitely get some Dramamine. Why dont you try a ferry ride first to see if you have a problem? I went on a cruise & I was fine, but I thought I would die on a ferry trip I had to take, We always had a boat growing up & I never had a problem with motion sickness on our boat, so you never know! Just keep the Dramamine handy. Have a great time & don't worrry :)
