It is unlikely you will have any problem since ships are getting progressively larger. If you have any doubt, it is a good idea to get your wrist bands, patechs or Bonine at Wal-Mart before your cruise. The on board store over charges for these items.

Isn't dramamine for kids? If so, there are adult medicines for motion sickness. I got sick on my last cruise, just 2 nights when the ocean was really rocky, and I took the medicine and it works... but it makes you feel a little bloated, too. I would get a prescription from your doctor. Tell them your cruising and need the prescription anti-nauseau patch. This works wonders!

Bonine is non-drowsy. Dramamine is not. Stay away from the Benadryl unless you plan on sleeping the whole time.

I use bonine for open ocean paddling - for races. In fact, most of my racing team does, and it doesn't make any of us sleepy at all.

No side effects, but you should take one each night before bed if you're really worried.

Yes. But Benadryl [or, generically, its active ingredient] works the same and is cheaper. If you want "non-drowsy" Bonine or Dramamine, look for meclazine [generic] instead. I don't like it myself [it makes me feel like a zombie] but it works well for some people.

Yes, it will definetly help! Normally the pursers desk will have free dramamine for you so you don't have t buy any before you go. Have fun!

I would make sure you have some on hand just in case its very inexpensive A friend of mine was sick for an hour and a half on a fishing trip that was ended because of this sickness he was in the floor of the boat with severe sickness So I would advise you take the demamine if you are afraid and if you are not on the water very often some people it does not bother but my luck is that I would be the one sick and no one would turn the boat around. Its called motion sickness. Most large cruise liners you cant even tell you are on a boat. So I hope that is helpfull !

My wife suffers from motion sickness and has tried both methods.

Dramamine worked but required a back-up dose after a day or so.

The patch worked and was less of a hassle.

Keep in mind that both methods cause drowziness and a need to sleep.
