If your cruise begins and ends at the same U.S. port your are still able to travel with birth certificate as proof of citizenship and any type of government issued photo ID if you are U.S. citizens and you do not need passports for that travel.

You need a passport to enter Canada after June 1st regardless of your method of traveling. I think on cruises you need a passport anyways, but I can't be quite sure about that.

Yep. You will need a passport to travel to any country on any cruise after June 1st. I just got back from a Carnival cruise today....you are going to have a blast...the staff is amazing. Have fun in Canada!
