HELP!!!! Birth certificate for a cruise? Major problem!!? |
My friend and I are going on a cruise tomorrow...(we leave at 4 am!!) and she can't find her birth certificate...will a scanner copy from her Dad work as proof of citizenship? She's got her social security card and her school ID and driver's license...will they let her board?!!??
The sooner we figure this out better! Please help! |

Call the Cruiseline Immediately.
I believe the birthcertificate has to be the "original" one NOT a copy.
They do not as a rule accept school I.D. as proof. If She could get a copy of birth certificate notorized, that would be accepted. The state or dept of vital statistics issues those original birth certificates.

No...she must have a certified copy...sorry. S.S. card is never accepted as a form of I.D. How old is your friend?...sounds like a minor. If she is over 18, a school I.D. is not acceptable either...it must be a gov't issued I.D. like a drivers license or a state I.D. card. I believe she is not going on this particular cruise. Also, hospitals do NOT issue birth certificates. Only the city or state office of vital statistics can issue a certifed birth certificate. Hospitasl issue cute little cards with footprints...these are not legal birth certificates. |

Sorry to say, but you're screwed. There's no way they're letting her on board without at least a birth certificate, and in fact she should really have a passport. |

when i went on my cruise, we showed our passports, and that was it....my mom didnt find her passport so she used her birth certificate, so if she has her passport i think it will work |

Call the HELP number for the cruise line now and find out whether a copy of the birth certicate is OK. It may not be. I was under the impression it had to be an original issued by the county or state. |

run to the hospital in which she was born and get a copy! i doubt in my opinion they will let her onboard inless she also has proof of a passport. i really doubt that will be enough but what do i know?
