I leave for a cruise to the bahamas tomorrow. Me and my bf are going to Nassau, and I need to know some things to do and how to do it. We dont want to rent a car, and anything we can walk to or take short ride or ferry to a taxi to would be great. So far I know I want to go to the straw market, and tour atlantis, but I do not know how to get there, how far they are from the cruise port, or what else to do. Any good Bars nearby? What beaches should I go to? HELP! |

The ship will dock right near town in Nassau and you just walk down the pier to the straw market and walk around town. You don't need a car for that and for anything else. You may want to take a taxi to Paradise Island to see the Atlantis Hotel, or to Cable Beach to swim. But everything else is right off the pier and there will be plenty of people on the pier trying to see you tours and stuff.

Good luck with your travel. Atlantis is obj choice and I think there is one or more swim with dolfin experience there if youre into that. Otherwise I recomend to google the net for answers and visit a to the local tourist office wont be wrong.
If youre going by a cruise ship that has nassau as its port of call youre find a lot of shore excursions on the ship and you can always ask pursers desk for info about the port and what to do. Johan. |

While on the ship, they should have some excursions you can sign up for. We just got back from a Disney Cruise and we went on the tour of Atlantis as well as the aquarium tour there. It was a lot of fun and a nice aquarium. The excursion included transportation to and from the ship. Hard Rock Cafe is not far from the straw market too. There are horse carriage rides you can do that are pretty inexpensive and they take you all over the city. I would really try to avoid heading out by yourselves, especially if you are not familiar with the area. |

Your ship will very probably have a lot of information to answer your questions, and that will be in the "daily program" and the ship's TV station. There is NO need to rent a car at Nassau! |
