I've cruised by myself. In all actuality I really wasn't alone. There where all those people on the ship and I met a ton of people. It was great. I still keep in contact with all of them too.

If you're comfortable about going out there meeting new people and doing it without someone by your side do it!

I've also done it and been by myself the entire time. I thought it was great. I personally work with people all the time and need a break from it all every once and a while.

Well I have never cruise on my own, but my dad has...there is this thing on cruisecritic.com called meet and mingle where you can talk with people who are going on the same cruise as you, and you can meet up with them on the cruise....my dad said that it was a lot of fun, and there is a special section for people cruising alone....all you have to do is simply make a free account, look for roll calls and there you go!

i would find a friend to share your room. Even if you were not that close or wanted to each do their own thing, it saves you both money. think about princess.com or hollandamerica.com

All cruise lines sell all of their cabins as DOUBLE OCCUPANCY so if you want to cruise and have a cabin alone you essentially pay a double fare. In addition, you must be at least 21 years old to book a cruise on all lines except Carnival where you must be at least 25, or go with someone who is 25 years or older.

Now there are some web sites that advertise cruises for singles and what they do is pare you with someone else who is single (same sex). Holland America Cruise line does this for seniors also. But personally I would rather pay for my brother, cousin, nephew, or some relative or close friend to go vs having a total stranger in a room with me for a week, or even 3 nights. Most cabin are less than 200 sq feet, about the size of a 9' x 12' bedroom. That is close quarters.

So if you decide to do a single cruise and not have a room mate, get the very cheapest cabin on the ship (an inside cabin) and select a date when the fare is the lowest. Fares for the same itinerary can differ by hundreds each week. Then a single cabin for you alone can be as low as $1200 to $1500., if you don't mind spending that to be alone. Or you can take a a shorter cruise, i.e., 3 or 4 days.

I would say bring a friend. But if you want to do it by yourself then go ahead, I'm sure you'll have fun either way.

I travel solo all the time - by choice. I cruise 2 or 3 times a year on Carnival - also solo. It is a great way to go if you are independent and can do for yourself.

The only problem you have is that no cruiseline will let you travel alone unless you are 21 years old. If you are under 21, you must have an adult over that age in the same cabin with you who is either a parent or guardian.

It is a great experience because you get to meet alot of people... go to cruisecritics.com and you will find alot of info on cruises when you are going by yourself.

Oh and that guy that put that cruises only sell for double occupancy its not true.... for example carnival has single cabins and they r great. BUT you will have to call the cruise line and ask about it because since they dont have alot of those cabins they go fast =)

I've been on nine cruises. Three of them I had roommates (a co-worker and my brother twice), all the others I've been on solo with a cabin to myself. All the cruises I've been alone on were Carnival, though I'm booked for cabin by myself on Princess in October.

Obviously, I'm going to say DO IT! If you value your privacy and have the money, there is nothing wrong with going on a cruise by yourself. You'll be able to socialize all you want at dinner, or in the lounges, shows, and discos, and you won't have to worry about a drunk roommate or one that wants to party all night. Carnival is a lot of fun, and you'll have a great time.

One thing though; you'll probably want to book with a request for dinner at a big table - one of the big ones in the center of the room. My first solo cruise I spent the first night at a table for six: Three women who didn't speak English and a honeymooning couple. It was less than ideal, but they reseated me at the line's request (they had to shuffle people to make others happy; as a single I was easy to move).

I have been on 3 cruises by myself. I loved it. It is a great chance to meet people and at the same time just have some nice quite alone time. --- GET A BALCONY. It will cost more but it gives you a wonderful place to just sit and watch the world go by

One thing about Carnival, it is a "fun ship" Go and have a good time! It's always more fun to go with a friend though. can I be your friend? lol A cabin usually costs more to go singlely.

When I went with friends, we met so many people that were alone. I found it strange, but the more I thought about it sounded great.

If you're outgoing and can stand to be alone for that long, go for it. You will meet so many people here and there it will be fun.

I have a lot of single people who book cruises. A lot of the cruiselines have single supplement some as low as 150% which means you pay 1 1/2 the double occupancy cost for the cabin to yourself. Others charge as much as 200%, just depends on when you book and which cruiseline.

ALL Cruiselines have a minimum of 21 to cruise. One of the previous posters stated that you have to be 25 to go on a Carnival cruise, this is not so....if you are under the age of 21 when you book you have to travel with someone over the age of 25. BUT a 21 year old can book a cruise if they want and sail without a person 25 or older going with them.

If you choose to sail alone I would stick with either Carnival or Royal Caribbean. Both lines have single get togethers so you can meet other singles. Also, you can ask your agent to request that you sit at dinner with other singles. You will be able to meet other singles but not be tied down to somebody else going with you.

i went on a "booze cruise" by myself once, but it wasn't on a boat. It was just me getting F**ked up ad driving around in my golf cart. and no i wasn't playing golf. In fact i don't even own golf clubs, or a golf cart for that matter........weird huh?
