Yes and I am going again in 18 days

Carnival is a great vacation if a cruise is what you want. It is one of the lower priced and has a lot to offer.
If you have children camp carnival is set up with a lot of different things geared to the right ages.

and the food oooooh the food is awesome. I suggest dinner in the dining room every night and if you cant decide if you want the lobster or the prime rib they will bring both.

the service will spoil you as well!!!!!

I haven't, but my 17 yr old brother, my mom, and grandma took one last year. They went to the Bahamas, Cozumel, and Jamaica. All three of them had a blast and the ship offered stuff for all of their age groups. Be sure to include at least one formal/semi-formal outfit.

Yes, it was fun. But, it is crowded with LOTS of families and kids. But, your mom and grandmother would probably enjoy it.....if they love the sun.

We went on our first Carnival cruise this spring. It was overall a pleasant experience, but not our favorite cruise line. We had a balcony cabin, which was very nice and had plenty of room for our family of 3. The buffet food was very nice, but the sit-down dining really was not very good. And I'm a Chili's/Applebee's/Red Robin kind of gal, so that gives you an idea of my food-snob level.

The best way to determine whether or not they would like it is to think about what they like to do day-to-day. Are they Denny's fans? Or do they only eat in places with tablecloths? Are there any issues with health or mobility? The newer Carnival ships are huge and there is lots of walking, so you may want to consider a smaller ship.

Once you have narrowed down your possible cruises, go to www.cruisecritic.com and check the passenger reviews for the ships you are interested in. You can get a pretty good feel for the overall ambiance/attitude of a ship from the site.

Other lines, such as Princess, tend to cater to the older crowds. So check around and see what you can find.

Good luck and happy sails!

the alaska cruise...its beautiful....plus there is casinos...but alaska is not a cold place..so dont be shy to ask...about that..and its beautiful...specially if they are a tad older..you know..dont send them to club med...to the bahamas....its nicer out there..

You definitely need to talk with a travel agent - or else do lots and lots of reading and research [CruiseCritic dot com is a great resource]. I've been on Carnival and Celebrity - don't know your mom and grandma's ages, but I think Celebrity or Holland would be better. Carnival ships are garish [in a Las Vegas sort of way] and the food has gone way down hill in the last few years; they can also be very loud and frenetic, though you can find peace and quiet if you want that. Celebrity is much more refined, food is great, ships are quieter [both aurally and decoratively!], service is top-notch.

Carnival is great for families, but merely okay for adults/couples. The food was okay in restaurants and miserable in the buffet. The staff were nice and the entertainment was only passable. Bingo and the art auction were the only real adult (bingo was very) mature activities aboard.

They do have great ports of call though. Especially in the Caribe.

I loved the Carnival cruise I went on. It was really affordable. The food was fabulous, the service fantastic. I was amazed. There was something to do for everyone on the ship. Be careful if you are approached by waiters carrying trays of drinks - you have to pay for those. Some people did not realize this until after their room was billed. Happy sailing!

Yes I love them I am going on my third on Sept 20 to Hawaii. The ship Miracle is a great ship and has a great stops. I was not as crazy about Carnival Destiny the stops were great but I did not like the ship.

I have been on Carnival a few times as well as some other cruise lines. CCL and RCCL are really geared towards families. For older people, I would recommend Celeberty or HAL.

I went on my first cruise with my mom and sister and it was on the Carnival Imagination to mexico, we had a great time! I had such a great time I leave in 5 days on another carnival fun ship to the bahamas.

Contact a good travel agent. Tell them what you want to do, give them an idea of your budget, and an area that your mom & grandma would like to visit and an approximate time of the year. The area, time of year, and length of the cruise will all be factors in the cost of the cruise. A travel agent can provide you with the best options nd take care of all the details to assure your mom and grandma have a great trip.

If you are budget minded - Royal Caribbean.

A bit more, but more people in their age group - Celebrity or Holland-America.

Good value, but minimum # of cruise days is 10 - Oceania.

If you want the best for mom and grandma where everything including alcohol and gratuities are included (but not shore excursions) - Seabourn, SilverSea, Regent, or Crystal.

Another option might be a river cruise in Europe - everything, except alcohol and gratuities, is included - even shore excursions are included. Don't recommend river cruises in US. Itineraries are boring, rooms are incredibly small, and not a lot to do on board.

Hope this helps.

I have and LOVED it, we went to the Florida Keys and The Bahamas.....very beautiful!! It was very inexpensive, I paid $289 for 5 days, you do not have to pay for anything on the cruise ship, except for gifts you may want to purchase and alcohol. I am looking forward to going on a cruise very soon....The staff for Carnival was very pleasant and helpful, you ALWAYS had something to do and I mean always!! Have a great time on your cruise....oh soooo jealous!! LOL
