Has anyone been on a cruise ship?

I'm going to be going on a cruise but I'm pretty nervous about since I don't like being in the deep sea. Is it fun and worth it? I am going to the Freeport and bahams Nassau I guess it's for one day in each. What do we do when we get off the cruise at the ports just hang out at the beach? Thanks!

It looks like you are going on a 3 or 4 day cruise. You'll be sorry it's so short, hehe. But any cruise is better than no cruise! At each port you'll be able to take excursions. If you find one that you want to do, it's better to book it on-line in advance. You can't book them the day of, as the excursion companies need to know how to plan their day. They should have things like scuba diving, history tours, catamaran tours, swimming with the dolphins, etc. There are many options. If you don't want to do any of these, you can always hang out at the beach or go shopping. Sometimes just walking around town is fun in itself. Freeport and Nassau are very very touristy, they've been catering to the cruise crowd for a very long time, and I suspect that you won't be bored. If you do your own thing, just be sure you make it back to the boat on time - you don't want them leaving without you :)

No fear. The ships are perfectly safe. Freeport will be for about 8 hours, and nassau is overnight about 25 hours. That is if you are on Carnival. You will depart at 4 pm, arrive in freeport about 8 am, leave about 4. then you will arrive in Nassau about and stay till 7 am the next day 6 am, then arrive back at Port canaveral at 6 am.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
I have been on 20 cruises so I guess I have been on a LOT of ships. There's very little to be nervous about as you will hardly know you are moving 90 percent of the time. Cruises are very smooth, especially in the Caribbean. I have been in ocean water that was about 16,000 + feet deep and unless you watch the depth guide on the TV or the captain tells you, you don't know how deep the water is and there no different feeling when its deeper.

I just came back from a cruise across the Pacific and didn't see land going and coming for 4 days straight. I didn't get nervous at all and you would not either.

When you to to the port stops you either book a tour through your ship; book a tour yourself after you get off the ship with one of the many vendors that will be around; or just go browse the straw market and vendor stands, or go to a beach. In the Bahamas I suggest that you do the beach first and then brows the straw market on your way back to the ship.

If it is your first cruise you will love it!
If you are a woman you won't have time to "hang out on the beach" as you will be indulging in retail therapy!

Have a great time and enjoy being on the sea!

i am 14 and have been on 3 cruises already. i am leaving for my 4th cruise in 14 days. cruising is ahhmazing and you will love it. i went on my first cruise in 5th grade and my parents loved it. cruising is like the most fun thing to do. even for elderly people. there are a ton of things to do at every minute. you can play like tennis shuffle board there are tons of bars for the ppl over 21 and there are at least 2 casinos. when you get off in the islands there is a ton of things to do. the shopping is gr8 so make sure that you have time to do that.

Well i've been on two cruises and i think they're really fun. When you get off at the ports you can do whatever you want, you can go to concierge desk on the ship and you can buy shore excursions from them, but you don't have to i have only done that once. What most people do when they get to port is go to the beach and go shopping. There will be tons of stuff to do, just explore the town you're in. One store i would visit would be Del Sol, there are 2 in Nassau, they sell stuff that changes color in the sun, they have shirts, hats, sunglasses, bags, and my personal favorite nail polish, they even have one that changes from clear to red. Go to this website i'm sure it'll tell you what you can fo when you get there http://www.nassauparadiseisland.com/what-to-do/

Have fun.

Yes it is totally worth it. in Janurary 2008 we went on the Carnival Liberty and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! It is worth it a lot. I am going on a cruise again in Janurary 2009 on the Carnival Glory!!!!!!!!!!!! That's how much I loved it. You will LOVE it. don't worry. It is fun. There was so much to do. You will love it. Bring a box of seasick pills if you get seasick or if you get seasick at night. Or don't drink a cappochino. I don't know which one made me sick.
