There is a website that you can use (http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review), however, my personal story should be sufficient. I went on Sovereign of the Seas July 30 through August 3 on a 5 day 4 night cruise to the Bahamas with a day stop in Coco Kay (Royal Caribbean’s private owned island). I take it you are either going on a 3 or a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas. I think that is the only location Sovereign of the Seas travels to. If you are going on this route which leaves from Cape Canaveral hopefully you are going on the 4 night.

The overall experience was great. In fact I just booked a 6 night cruise with Royal Caribbean (Navigator of the Seas) to Cozumel and Belize City in early spring of 2008.

If you have children or teenagers you are really going to love it. There are nothing but kids, family, and teenagers. These are the reasons why I did not like the cruise as much as I could have. I went down with a couple of guys. I am a single male 21 to 28 who was hoping to meet other singles my age on the cruise. This did not happen. They had a singles night and not 1 single showed up. So if you are in your 20s and 30s and single find another cruise. I can only explain this by the fact that most families can only afford and only have the time to go on a cruise less than 4 nights, which is why my next cruise is a week long. I say again, unless you are a parent or a teenager you will be disappointed with age groups on this particular ship. But if you do have children they have what is called Adventure Ocean which is basically a day care where you drop your kids off at 7p and you don’t pick them up till 1a, which gives parents plenty of time to gamble, drink, and have fun alone.

The food was really great with impeccable service. There is a $4 dollar service charge to eat at Johnny Rockets. Unless you paid extra for a balcony suite, the rooms are small. Very small. If you are claustrophobic you are going to be taken aback but only for a second. The room service and room staff is also impeccable. However, make sure you do laundry and iron your clothes before the trip. I had to pay $23 to have 3 shirts ironed.

Don’t forget there is a formal night so pack a suit and tie or dress

There is always something to do. From pool side activities (belly flop contest, canon ball contest, parties, music, dancing,) to the rock climbing wall, ping pong, basketball, bingo (jackpots are up to $3,000), trival, and gambling. The casino was great everything from black jack, to craps, to poker, to slots, to over 30 other numerous casino games. There is also a really nice theatre with above average performances. The cruise director on my cruise was really great and funny. Be sure to check out some of the shows.

They have over 5 bars with different themes and music and a nightclub that on the last night of the cruise had an adult game, I repeat adult game called the quest game, where you divide up into teams of 7 and have to perform different task which might embarrass some (such as all men running up to the cruise director and acting out there favorite sexual position). It is a lot of fun though.

Be sure to do an excursion when you get to the Bahamas. The one I did, which was a major disappointment, was taking a catamaran out to the ocean and snorkel for 4 hours. Really we only snorkeled for 30 minutes and the boat only took us out about ½ mile from the dock. It really sucked. From what I heard from people I meet, touring Atlantis or taking a tour of the island is really a lot of fun. Having stayed at Atlantis a year ago you are going to want to go there. It is remarkable. Just make sure when you are on the island of the Bahamas you watch your pockets. No kidding.

Now let me talk about Coco Kay, one of the best parts of the trip. You spend an entire day on Coco Kay. There are only two excursions you must do. Only two. The first is taking jet skies around the small islands of coco Kay to learn the history. You learn about how drug smugglers would fly planes on the islands to make drug exchanges which they would then take cigarette boats to Miami. The second excursion is snorkeling. The snorkeling on Coco Kay was far better than the snorkeling in the Bahamas. The fish actually touch you and you get to look at sunken ships and planes. There are also a lot of stores and hammocks the sit right on the edge of the island. It’s a lot of fun.

That really is about it. It really is a fun trip. If you are flying down I would suggest flying to Orlando. It is about 45 minutes to the port. Just make sure that you get a flight that gets in no later than 1p (I believe the ship leaves a 5p) and leaves Orlando no earlier than 11a (it will take you between 1 to 2 hours to de-board the ship). Of course if you have the money fly into Melbourne which is only about 20 minutes from the port.

You should have lots of fun. A cruise is always fun.

Hope this helps

I've never been on the Soverign of the Seas but I'm a frequent Royal Caribbean cruiser. They are top notch, if you're not happy they're not happy & will do anything to accomodate you. The entertainment is incredible, the amenities are better than most hotels & the staff is more than happy to serve you. Have a great cruise! Remember if u arent finding something to do on an island there are activities onboard 24/7

shhhhhhhhhhhimhiding
I just got back Monday and I hated the ship. I thought it was slightly shabby, the carpeting by the pool smelled moldy and our a/c barely worked in our cabin. That was better than the 3 other cabin in our party that had backed up toilets. I found the food mediocre at best which would have upped the cruise a notch. I Cruise alot with Carnival and this was my first RCL. I have to admit I was so disappointed with the Cruise I hesitate to book anything longer
