If you were unfortunate enough to have an emergency that meant you had to return, the cruise staff would do all that was possible to get you on a flight back to your home.
It happened on a cruise that we were on in the Med, a farmer and his wife from New Zealand had to return to New Zealand urgently, the cruise staff got in touch with the cruise agent at the next port who arranged all the flights, and the transfers to the airport and was waiting at the gangway with the flight tickets and a cab when the ship docked.
So don't be overly concerned, if you need to return home, it can be done. Hopefully, it will never happen and you will have a great cruise.

Something to consider....
You will most likely have to return via a flight. While you currently don't need a passport for sea travel, you will need a passport if you have to enter the US from an Intl flight.
This is not an issue if your departure is after June 1, 2009 as passports/passcards will be required for sea/land travel on that date.
Notable...the new passport card is not good for air travel, only land and sea.
So if you don't have a passport yet, you should consider getting one to ensure your "emergency" plans can be executed if necessary. |

Well you can always leave the ship at the port off cals but any transportation back to youre home is youres to pay for. As for when the ship is at sea it realy depends on if the captain thinks it worth the detour and if there is an port with transportation capabilityes nearby. If he or the cl find a need to charge you for the extra fuel and berthing costs it could be realy expencive thou.
But a 16 year old should be able to take care of herself a lot of the time and if youre arranging contact details with any relatives or persons you can trust you can relax and enjoy youre cruise. Take a cellular phone with you and use the ships onboard internet service if it have such for contact. Also dont forget to sent here a postcard or two... Johan |

That may depend on the cruise line & what kind of emergency. But most would try and accommodate the passenger.
They can make arrangements for you to leave the ship for the nearest hospital, or let you off at the next port.
They do have a doctors on the cruise who would determine how sick your daughter was. |
