Royal Caribbean stops at Cozumel. Awesome cruise line. have cruised with them 8 times. Bad things about the boat...... depending on the week, they might have a mediocre show one night.
and the good... everything else..service...activities.... amenities..ports... ship....casino...rock climbing...in-line skating...... 6 hot tubs to choose from..... etc. |

We have cruised to Cozumel on both the Royal Carri been Rhapsody of the Sea as well as the Carnival Ecstasy. Going on the Carnival Conquest in March.
Personally, the extra money for the RC was not worth it. Our family likes Carnival better because it is a bit more casual.
Cozumel is on a number of cruise ship itineraries so the port may be very busy when you arrive.
You have to tender from the cruise ship to the dock. (Ride a ferry). You definitely feel the motion of the water in the tender vessel.
There is still allot of visible hurricane damage in Cozumel.
Great to do's in Cozumel...the glass bottomed submarine was neat as well as the swim with the dolphins.
Venture into the open air market downtown. You will get better prices than shopping in the port shops. |

I went on RCCL Voyager of the Seas. I didn't think I would like Cozumel Mexico, but it turned out to be one of my favorite vacation spots. A must see while you go is the Mayan Ruins, also go to Carlos n Charles, the food was really good and the entertainment is one of a kind. I would 100% recommend this place to u. |

I have been on 2 cruises that port at Cozumel, both were with Carnival. I hated the first one which was the Holiday-- it is their oldest and smallest ship, which makes for a rocky ride. The 2nd cruise was on the Elation and we loved it. The ship is almost twice as big as the Holiday, so we didn't get seasick. You have to tender in to Cozumel, which can make some people really sick, but it's not TOO bad.Cozumel still has a lot of Hurricane damage, so it's not fully up and running like some may remember before the Hurricane. Overall though, it's a great place to dock for a day. Go snorkeling-- it's beautiful there! |

Cozumel is one of my favorite places on earth and we can't wait to go back!
We took a cruise on Carnival Inspiration that stopped in Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Belize. Cozumel was by far our favorite stop. We took a shore excursion to go snorkeling and clear-bottom kayaking over a coral reef. We did a shore excursion b/c we didnt know the area but it wasn't far so you could have just taken a cab to the nearby National Park. You dock right on a large dock in the center of town (so you dont have to ferry in or take a cab/taxi to shop). Tons of shopping, great prices on alcohol. Beautiful water.
A month later our close friend took a direct one just to Cozumel and back.
Both were with Carnival. We loved it.
The Inspiration pros and cons: The shows weren't great but they were decent. I mean you aren't expecting John Mayer or Garth Brooks. It was a typical Vegas style show. The comedian was very good. Food was great. We loved the ships layout much better than the Destiny (a bigger ship but not as good layout, has a more tiered deck thats only 1 lounge chair deep so the waiters can't get very close). Tons of flat area by the pool that made it easier for waiters to bring you drinks or lay out in the shade if you'd gotten a bit too much sun. Save money by ordering the drink of the day or by keeping your hurricane glass--refill price is like a dollar cheaper. Service was great and we still talk about that waiter at dinner to this day. They were from Romania and had a comedy duo of the straight man and the overthetop wild one. We only ate in the dining room for dinner and the pool for lunch b/c it was so good. The chocolate buffet was a must. But I do wish we had tried some of the other food areas--pizza, sushi, room service. I was not into the party games. Carnival divides you into teams and all week they have games on the deck where you can earn points for your "color". That didn't interest me at all but you can easily avoid it.
I went to the shopping lectures before you landed at port and found them very educational. You get lots of free stuff. Also, if you are haggling over jewelry, you can toss out the Shopping Gurus name and get the best deal. Also, we went to the art auctions. I love the art auctions--we bought a spa package for half price and a beautiful signed Thomas Kincade for far less than appraisal value.
Not only do I recommend it to you, I'm thinking about taking that exact cruise again b/c there was so many other shore excursions I wanted to do in Cozumel and Belize. We are at the stage in our life where we love the party atmosphere of carnival. its a price we can afford and camp carnival keeps other peoples kids out of our way.
(Royal Carribbean is great too--a lil more expensive and much better spa. Better pampering. More activities but I dont surf or rockclimb. Carnival's rooms are bigger. If you are tight on cash though ignore the people who talk about Celebrity or Princess) |
