Has anyone travelled with Princess Cruises before? What did you think? |
I'm interested in a cruise on the Princess Grand (for our honeymoon!), and would like some feedback from people who've been...
Also if you could recommend which room to stay in, that would be fabulous!
thanks! xx |

yes,,,,take the cruise, but opt out of the staterooms near the front or rear, or the sides of the boat,,,take the rooms in the middle of the ship as you will have a smoother sail with less pitching. you wont spend much time in your room anyway, but when you do you'll be much more comfortable when you do stay in your room (tee hee). |

I have taken several cruises with Princess. A balcony cabin is nice if you want to stay in your room. However if you wish to not only enjoy your HONEYMOON & the cruise then I would suggest save money & take an inside room. Also try the buffet. You get to try new foods, eat as much as you want and sit where you want. Plus, meet other couples from all around the world.
Enjoy BOTH. |

Go to CruiseCritic.com, then click on "Boards" and/or "Reviews" [be sure to look for the passenger reviews, there, too]. |

go for a balcony stateroom. that is what I am doing for my honeymooon but on Royal Caribbean. I have never been on Princess but I am sure they are amazing from what I have heard. Also when you book it let them know you are celebrating your honeymoon and they will do cute stuff for you guys. I also asked for a table for two by the window for dinner. Congrats and happy honeymooning! |

Princess is a fine cruiseline. I just booked a cruise for April on Dawn Princess.
For your honeymoon, I would get a balcony for sure. It's a treat, it's a little more money, but it's your HONEYMOON! It's so romantic! You'll love having coffee/breakfast on your balcony or watching the sunset or sunrise on the privacy of your balcony, or......... :)
Save the inside or oceanview for an anniversary.
Have a wonderful time and congrats! |

I have cruised with Princess 8 times, twice on the Grand. The best rooms are in the middle of the ship on decks 9, 10, 11, &12. Our favorite deck is the Baja deck. We also always get at least a balcony or better. You miss so much if you have an inside room. UGH! The grand is truly Grand with beautiful main rooms, dinning rooms and pools. We really liked the dining room that you pay extra for for just one of your meals. It is the Itialan dinning room, but right now I'm having a senior moment & can't remember the name. Because we love Princess so much, we have never adventured with any other cruise line. We may do Cunard lines some day, but that's about it. Since you are going on your honeymoon, order some flowers before hand and they will be in your cabin when you arrive on the ship. Also be sure to tell them it's your honeymoon. You will get extra goodies too. You can't go wrong with Princess, and it would be a cruise of a lifetime. Now the hard part is picking where you want to go. |

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
 |
I cruised on the Princess Grand as my first of three Princess cruises. Its a very lovely ship that is well decorated and has very nice amenities. The food is very very good and they do a good job of "presentation" with their dinner meals; in other words the food is very tasty and also looks pretty/colorful on the dinner plate. The wait service is very good and you can choose between a set dinner seating at @ 6:00PM or @8:30 PM, OR you can option to just go to dinner when you want. They call this PERSONAL CHOICE cruising and its about the same as that "freestyle' cruising that you see advertised on Norwegian ships. My recommendation would be for you to select a dinner seating time so that you have a specific table and waiter each night and your server will get to know you both and your likes and dislikes and provide better service than if you just walk in and they give you a seat wherever. You can also, since its your honeymoon, request a table for two and they will accommodate you if one is available (they do have some). Baring that, request a small table so that there are 4 to 6 people at your table. Any more than that and its really hard to communicate with everyone.
When I went on the Grand ( Eastern Caribbean) I did not have a balcony cabin (had an outside) and that is the last time that I did not get a balcony cabin. I will not even cruise on a ship now that does not have balcony cabins because the balcony adds so much more to your cruise experience. So I did have balcony cabins on my next two Princess cruises, the Island Princess (to Panama) and the Star Princess (to Alaska). I loved the cabins on both ships and really enjoyed the balcony to watch scenery as we cruised around Alaska and through the Panama Canal.
If you have not already you can look at the features of the Grand at this web site:
http://www.princess.com/learn/ships/ap/index.html
The Grand has indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs and a really fabulous disco on the very back and top deck of the ship. I highly recommend the ship and the cruise line. I suggest a balcony cabin midship, but not in or too close to an elevator (noise from people traffic). The ship is huge and its a long walk from a cabin in the front or back to activities (like dinner, the show, or the gym) at the other end of the ship. The ride in the center of the ship is a tad bit smoother, although you will not experience much motion anyway. |
